How Does it Compare?
The Reg Barber powder coated tamper handle will be slightly heavier than the wood handles and, under heavy use, may be less durable than the Reg Barber anodized tamper handles.
I am looking for a convex tamper and am a little overwhelmed with the different curves available with the Reg Barber tampers. I have a Miss Silvia machine and a naked rocket portafilter with a triple basket. Is there a curve you recommend?
Best Answer:I believe that our favorites were the U.S. Curve and the C-flat. Really though, there was very minimal differences, and it will vary depending on the coffee, machine, and grind setting, so there really isn't a clear winner. I usually think of it as more of an aesthetic preference, although some people prefer a little bit of a curve if the machine's brew head has a screen in the center (which the Silvia does), so grounds don't get as worked into the screw. The flat is probably our most popular finish, because it is the most standard.
I also use a Rancilio Miss Silvia machine. I have used different bases with a Reg Barber tamper, but I like the C-flat curve best. You get a clean press, and very even flow. I think you will be happy with it. Good luck.
Why is only the 58mm ripple the only option when you can buy a 58mm flat separately? are these already pre-paired in packaging? If so when will you get any 58mm flats or anything not grooved up in any of the short RB styles?

The tamper is perfect.. The Reg Barber system allowed me to order a 51mm base that fits the 52mm La Pavoni filter basket with minimal clearance. The tamper slides easily and leaves little loose coffee. The base is heavy to minimize effort and apply even pressure across the loose coffee. Well made - attractive.
