Best Answer:My base including handle is 500 grams. I can't remove the handle easily because I used red loctite after using it a few weeks because I liked it so much & knew I would never use anything else. Yes you need a 58mm base for your Marzocco. There are 1/2 doz bases to choose from. I chose the c-flat and with a bottomless filter it starts more evenly than a flat base. Go for it! Jim
On my scale the base alone is 321 grams. This tamper will fit in any aperture that's 58mm or wider. Only you can decide if you want a narrower tamper, and there are many opinions on the ideal size of tamper vs PF basket.
The base weighs 11.5 ounces (13.7 w/the wood handle). As far as the La Marzocco, I believe their baskets are 58mm. You should check the specs on the particular model you have/want, to confirm. Great tamper.
Why is only the 58mm ripple the only option when you can buy a 58mm flat separately? are these already pre-paired in packaging? If so when will you get any 58mm flats or anything not grooved up in any of the short RB styles?

Best Answer:We sell the bases and handles separately. We do not offer the entire selection the Reg Barber has. You can try Reg Barber's website directly to find what you are looking for. www.coffeetamper.com
Anyone know the thread and bolt size for this? I recently made some tamper handles based on the "Concept Art/Rexroth Tamper Base", which used a metric M8 bolt.

Best Answer:The base and handle attach by a set screw. I don't have access to my calipers for more accurate measurements, but based on my crude measurements of the set screw, I'd say the base is tapped for 3/8"-16.
Best Answer:No, unfortunately the Cafelat and Reg Barber handles are not compatible. The diameter threading on the screw is different, and it is also the case that the stem of the tamper handle on the Reg Barber is larger. For this reason, even if you were able to screw the Cafelat handle in place on a Reg Barber base, there would be a gap around the edge of the tamper handle where it meets the base. I hope this makes sense, but let me know if you have any other questions!
