Sleek and stylish, the Rocket Espresso Mozzafiato Type V offers high-tech control over temperature in an unparalleled fit and finish. Encased in bright stainless steel, the boiler-heated group and substantial steam boiler offer piping hot shots and perfectly frothed milk (at the same time!). This pressurized prowess is aided by the Type V's low-profile PID controller, which offers easy access to temperature adjustments and neatly tucks away behind the drip tray when not in use.

Features and Functionality

  • Made in Milan - Built by hand in Italy, each Rocket machine features prosumer components and careful construction.
  • Classic Case - Ensconced in stainless steel, the Mozzafiato adds integrated cup rails to the Rocket lineup.
  • PID Controller - Adjust boiler temp on the fly with the easy arrow button controls hidden behind the drip tray.
  • Heat-exchange Boiler - At 1.8 liters, you'll have more than enough pressure for multiple drinks in a row.
  • Three-way Solenoid - Makes backflushing easy and helps prevent the dreaded 'portafilter sneeze' of other machines.
  • Two Year Warranty - We're proud to offer two years of parts and labor support for every Rocket machine purchase.
  • Understated - The new one-piece panel and cup rail gives the Rocket lineup an aesthetically clean look.
  • PID Controller - The hidden PID behind the drip tray keeps the classic look of the machine, while adding a nice update in functionality.
  • Spluttering Hot Water - The water wand hooks right into the steam boiler, and practically spits out superheated water.
How Does it Compare? The Mozzafiato—'breathtaking' in Italian—takes the place of the Cellini in Rocket's lineup. It features integrated cup rails, new, tapered feet and a wrapped boiler over the previous model.
Tips and Tricks Make sure to measure your cabinets before ordering! Especially short cabinetry and the Mozzafiato won't jive well (since the integrated cup rails add an inch to the height of the machine).

Rocket Espresso Appartamento Espresso Machine
Rocket Espresso Appartamento Espresso Machine
Best Answer: Yep! A decent number of differences actually, the Mozzafiato:

Uses an SSR (solid-state relay) instead of a pressurestat to regulate heat (part of the PID controller layout, no pstat 'clicking' sounds)

The boiler is 'wrapped' (insulated)

Has a group pressure gauge on the front left of the machine

The cup rails are built in and metal (Appartamento currently only has plastic)

Can you confirm the dimensions for this please? The product page says it's only 11 inches wide, but it looks much wider. I have limited space on the counter where I want to put it, so I have to find something less than 15 inches wide.
Don S on Sep 11, 2017
Best Answer: Hello! It's definitely only 11 inches wide. That said, if your total width available is only 15 inches, it may be a little hard to use the full swivel of the steam and hot water arms.

Is the pump rotary or vibratory?
Geoffrey H on Aug 11, 2017
Best Answer: Hello!

This model comes with a vibratory pump. If you're looking for a rotary pump, you'll want the Mozzafiato Evo R:

Worth Every Penny!!Review by Will
I really cannot say enough about this machine. It's nearly perfect. We've had it now for almost 3 months and use it daily. LOVE IT!!! We have had a Silvia v3 for 5 years now and wanted to upgrade to a better machine. After doing LOTS of research I landed on the Rocket Espresso Type V. The machine produces such amazing Espresso nearly EVERY shot! MAYBE the first is meh, the rest are pure Gold, if you have your Grinder dialed in right. The ability to Steam and Brew at the same time are wonderful and making Hot Beverages is a joy for the first time.

I have ZERO regrets buying this machine. If you looking into this machine buy it, you'll love it. If you are comparing it vs the R58, the ONLY thing I wish I could do is plumb the Type V in. (Posted on 10/29/2017)
Mozzafiato V Great Espresso MachineReview by EspressoLove
I knew I wanted a small footprint Rocket espresso machine for my tiny kitchen and debated for some time between the Appartamento and the Mozzafiato V. Both are well-built machines, both beautiful to look at, both a dream to use and both make exceptional espresso drinks with a little practice. I decided to go with the Mozzafiato V and have no regrets. I think you can't go wrong with either machine, but for me the following features made a difference and why I chose the Mozzafiato V:

PID controller uses SSR instead of a pressurestat to regulate heat. Less temp fluctuation equals less wear and tear on components. Longevity at this price point a must.

Adjustable PID control. This has been a great feature for varying beans.

Insulated boiler. Rocket should add this to their Appartamento.

Dual pressure gauges on front of machine. This was not a requirement, but has given me great feedback to tweak my grind settings to perfection.

Prefer solid side panels and integrated cup rail design. Simple, timeless. No cheap plastic.

With espresso and steaming, practice makes perfect. Rocket machines are powerful. I found steaming milk/soy/almond is much faster on a Rocket than on many other machines, so I learned to be quick and now both espresso shots and milk additions are great. A fun machine to learn on, perfect espresso drinks after a relatively short practice period. Well worth the investment. A great addition to our home!
