Overview

Common Coffee Dilemma: You drink drip coffee throughout the week, but love to indulge with a latte or cappuccino now and then. What's a caffeinated enthusiast to do? Purchase a machine that pulls double duty, of course! With the Saeco Minuto, changing from coffee to espresso is as simple as flipping a switch. To brew your daily drip simply leave the coffee/espresso lever in the upright position and flip the lever down when you want the Minuto Focus to brew espresso. Utilize the panarello on the Minuto Focus (black), or the cappuccinatore on the Minuto Class (silver) to froth and heat fresh milk for that occasional indulgence.

Features & Functionality of the Saeco Minuto Automatic Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker - Certified Refurbished

  • Double Duty Pressure System: Simply flip the lever to choose between coffee or espresso. This smart machine will take care of the rest by brewing each using their ideal pressure.
  • Accommodating Spout: The adjustable spout generously leaves enough room to brew directly into a travel mug.
  • Ceramic Grinder: Guarantees fresh, never over-heated coffee.
  • Programming: The Minuto allows you to adjust and program the length (volume) for each of the three drink options (espresso, coffee and large coffee).
  • Strength Settings: Choose from 5 dosing options (strength settings), brewing everything from a mild to a bold brew.
  • Milk Options: If you like to manually froth and heat your milk using a panarello, then the Minuto Focus (black) is for you! If you enjoy the convenience of automatic milk frothing on a cappuccinatore, then the Minuto Class (silver) is just what the doctor ordered.
Pros
  • True to the Core - This machine remains ahead of the curve with its ability to make both true espresso and true coffee.
  • Wallet Friendly - The Minuto refurb still provides fresh ground coffee and freshly brewed espresso, but at a fraction of the price!
Cons
  • Noisy - It's not a deal breaker, but the Minuto is a little louder than other coffee makers and espresso machines.
  • Coffee Spout - The adjustable spout makes it convenient to brew into travel mugs, but we wish the spout went a little lower for espresso shots.
  • Oily Beans Beware - Since the Minuto is a superautomatic, super oily beans may clog the grinder over time.

On the Saeco HD8772/47 Minuto (silver)
Does it include the automatic milk frother that draws milk directly from a milk carton or jug and froth it automatically, the "cappuccinatore"?

Philips website says that it is included in the factory box.

But don't know if its included in the refurb. Please confirm if its included with the SCG unit, thanks!

Is this the only sub $1k super automatic that can make a true coffee as well. I want to be able to do both regular coffee and am confused as to if I really need this machine or can go with the Intelia or Intuia? Is the coffee brewed by this much different then an americano?
Tom M on Jan 5, 2015
Best Answer: The Minuto (in the coffee position) will use a lower pressure pulse brewing method to produce your cup of coffee. It is definitely closer to a standard drip cup of coffee, but since it uses a fine espresso grind setting, will not be exactly the same. An americano, which is just espresso plus hot water, is to most people, very much like a drip cup of coffee, so the Coffee setting on the Minuto will be somewhere between an americano and drip coffee, if that helps. It really just depends on what you need or how much you can tell the difference between the two!

How does this compare to the Saeco, Odea Giro Plus?

The Minuto seems to be the obvious answer for a small office with different coffee tastes, but I really like some of the other features and even the "looks" of other Saeco Expresso machines better. For instance with the Intelia Class, is it realistic to think you could adjust the bean strength and use a double-brew (for volume) to approximate a standard cup of coffee? I know you could make an Americano by adding water, but I know some folks will only want to 'hit and go'.
Thanks.
Doug W on Feb 5, 2016
Best Answer: Can't offer advice on the Intelia, but have been using the Minuto for 6 months as you describe--For a mixture of coffee tastes. The Minuto makes great expresso and good coffee and is easy to 3 programmable buttons make it easy to "hit and go". I use dark roast coffee, set the grind as fine as possible, leave the bean strength on maximum and program the volume to deliver the desired strength. It can do a strong European-style 4 oz cup and an adequate 6 oz American-style cup. If you use lighter roast coffee or try for more than 6 oz it just isn't strong enough. Compared doing it this way vs the Americano way--adding hot water to an espresso--and the taste and strength comes out better (stronger) this way.

Is this available in 220V supply? I am thinking of getting one for my yacht, and the power supply on her is 220/60hz. Or do you have any models that are up to 220V

What is the difference (other than color) between the Silver and Black Saeco Minuto?
A shopper on Apr 30, 2015
Best Answer: Color is not the only difference between these versatile machines. The difference lies in the milk steamer. If you’re a one-touch kind of person, let the silver Minuto Class automatically froth fresh milk with the cappuccinatore. If you like a little more control, select the black Minuto Focus and effortlessly froth milk with the panarello.

what is the difference between the pararello and the cappaccinatore? what are the degrees that the machine heats the water? I read that 195 to 205 is the best to release the flavor of the coffee beans. I intend to use the machine daily for coffee and sometime for espresso.

Own both a Vienna plus and Gaggia Anima prestige, and prefer the espresso quality of the former, how is the Minuto compare as far espressos are concerned, and for that matter which espresso only machine would you recommend best?

Refurbished machine was like new on arrival and has worked great over the last several months. Coffee is very good and espresso is great. Had to buy liquid decalcifier to run through the machine after a couple of months. Our water here in Florida isn't hard and I never had to use the decalcifier on our old Saeco Vienna Plus. May be a result of buying a refurbished machine. (Posted on 7/30/2017)

I am really pleased with this purchase. Was able to obtain over Labor Day while Seattle Coffee Gear had it on sale. The machine itself makes a full flavored, full bodied coffee. While designed to make coffee and espresso, I think the coffee is where this machine shines. By giving you 5 different, programmable settings for strength you can make coffee the way you want it. The steam wand performs as advertised and delivers hot water for tea, hot chocolate, etc. While the machine is mostly constructed from plastic, the construction is solid. Easy to remove the drip tray and empty dregs. Would prefer a larger drip tray, but that is minor.
This machine is used in a office setting with about 5 people using it a couple of times a day.

I just purchased this machine in the silver model, I am so happy with this machine took some time to tweak it the way I liked it, but once set I am getting some very tasty coffee. I usually do a few cups in the morning and cappuccino after dinner. Buy one at this price you will not be disappointed at all. A very nice superauto that also makes a pretty good cup of regular coffee as well. (Posted on 8/6/2015)
