Product Description

The Refurbished Saeco Vienna Plus Superautomatic Espresso Machine adopts the legendary credentials of its predecessor, the Saeco Vienna, but now features better reliability and advanced brewing pressure that's capable of producing an even richer shot of espresso. You'll love the Vienna Plus' simplicity. Choose the volume and strength of your coffee, and then you are set. Even more simple is this espresso-making marvel's sturdy construction, which helps reduce the possibility of component failure.

Features & Functionality of the Refurbished Saeco Vienna Plus

  • Completely Automatic Espresso: The Saeco Vienna Plus brewing system does it all with a simple-to-use control panel. Strength and volume of your coffee or espresso is controlled with a dial.
  • Instant Hot Water: Use this feature for tea, Americano, and pre-warming or rinsing your cup.
  • Several Caffeinated Options: The Saeco Vienna Plus not only makes espresso, but it excels at making rich coffee at the press of a button. Fully automated machines like this make what is called Cafe Creme and it is often referred to as Swiss brewed coffee for the country that made it popular.
  • Pre-Infusion System: To optimize the flavor extraction, a special program step injects a little hot water into the freshly ground coffee, in order to soak it and let it swell up. This feature increases the flavor and aroma of the coffee during the brewing process.
  • Professional Quality Grinder: The Saeco Vienna Plus has a built-in, conical type burr grinder, the same type used by the professionals. This durable construction is consistent with top quality machines and little or no maintenance or service is needed.
  • Adjustable Coffee Dosing: Inside the bean hopper you will find a knob that will allow you to adjust it from six to nine grams to change the strength of the coffee.
  • Removable Water Tank: The water reservoir can easily be refilled while it is still on the machine or by removing it and filling it at the kitchen tap.
  • Removable Brew Group: Also accessed from the side, this brew group is easy to clean and maintain — just pull it out once a week & spray it down with hot water to keep it in great shape.
  • Coffee Bean Storage: Keeping 12 oz of beans fresh and ready for grinding is the built in, lidded coffee bean hopper. When the coffee grounds are spent, the machine delivers them to the internal dump box, which can hold up to 20 expended coffee portions.
Pros
  • Simple - Select your drink, adjust the volume of coffee and brew away!
  • Reliable - Improving upon the legendary Vienna, the Vienna Plus allows for more control without sacrificing durability and reliability.
Cons
  • Loud - During our test of this machine, we noticed it's quite loud when in use.
  • All-Plastic Construction - Some users may not like this superautomatic's all-plastic construction.

I'm thinking about getting this machine for a friend that is addicted to Starbucks Cappuccino. My question is does it froth the milk easily and consistently? I have had department store machines that made what I thought was acceptable espresso, but would not make the foam worth a flip. Is this machine good for cappuccino?
A shopper on May 9, 2013
Best Answer: Yes it does. The most important thing in getting a good cup of expresso is to have a pump expresso machine. It is the only kind in my experience that will produce the cremora that is an indication of good expresso. You can find pump expresso machines that are not automated for $80-$150. They make good coffee but require extra work to fill and tap the receptacle holding the coffee and then empty it and clean it. The price on this machine is worth it as they go for new at twice the price of this one.
Stay away from Orchestros by Krups as you cannot get to the internal plumbing and filter to clean it. Also stay away from the cheap atmospheric expresso machine. They heat the water to boiling and do not give you the Cremora (bad taste in my opinion).

DOES THIS REFURBISHED VERSION HAVE THE NEWER STYLE "J" BOILER OR THE OLD TANK STYLE?

What is the range of coffee volume per shot that this machine will produce? it looks like turning the dial on the front allows for some adjustment.
A shopper on Oct 16, 2013
Best Answer: I can get anywhere from a single demitasse cup to a full mug
also grind and total puck size can be set from inside the the bean compartment. The dial on the outside only seems to affect the amount of water used, therefore I would guess that a demitasse cup would be less dilute that a full a cup, but I loved this machine so much that I bought a second for a different home. The full cup is so rich I drink it black, no milk or sweetener

Hi, i have one of these and went through the troubleshooting following the video but now when you dial it to full cup of coffee it only gives half a cup of coffee....anyone know what i did to it?
Josh B on Dec 13, 2014
Best Answer: Hello, sorry for no replying sooner, holidays craziness.. anyway... for what I know, the machine doesn't make a "full cup of coffee" it only makes espresso shots. Now, yes it shows a cup on different stages, but that is a espresso shot cup normally a 2-3 ounces size cup. What does it represent on the dial is the type of shot that you can make, and as my grandfather and my father taught me, this what a espresso shot is:

RISTRETTO: The “short shot” is the first ¾-ounce of espresso in an extraction, which many believe is the absolute perfect espresso.

SINGLE SHOT: A 1-ounce shot of espresso.

LUNGO: Otherwise known as the “long shot”, this is a 1 ½-ounce shot of espresso.

DOUBLE SHOT:This is not merely a 2-ounce shot of espresso; this shot uses twice the amount of coffee in the portafilter, whereas the lesser shots use the same single serving.

From there we go to the last setting on the dial, the one that looks like a full cup, with that, you are adding an extra ounce of water to your double shot, it doesn't make it a triple, just a water-down double. Depending of the type of Roast of the coffee bean that you are using, this setting can make the shot taste either really bitter or have a taste of "burn coffee".

To make a full cup of coffee with you machine, you need to make what it's call "Cafe Americano".

CAFE AMERICANO; Espresso shot (any size) on a 8-10 oz cup, then add Hot Water to it. Cream and sugar optional.
The story about the ' Cafe Americano" is that when the the people from the USA weren't familiarized to drink coffee as much they do now, and visited other cultures that did drink it, likein Europe, Middle East, México and the rest of Latin América and the Caribbean, they often would ask for a cup pf coffee and all the time they will get a espresso shot (variations of brewing it by country), but it was to strong for the people of the USA, so they will ask for hot water to add to the shot to dilute it.... that's how "Americano" was born.

i bought a saeco vienna plus coffee machine recently, I am having issues with the steam ejector. When i tried to steam milk it starts throwing milk all over the place, instead of generating the foam.i had this problem before cleaning the black pipe solved it, but now the problem is permanent. This is so annoying, please help?
Janga on Oct 2, 2014
Best Answer: Dear Rohith:
I have never had this particular problem. I don't know if it is the machine or procedure, but let me just go through what I do:
* after pressing the steam button, make sure it stops flashing before turning the steam dial.
* Put an empty cup under the steam wand and turn the dial half to 3/4 turn and allow hot water to come out. when it turns to steam only, close the dial.
* Then put your milk vessel under the steam wand. A metal frothing pitcher made for this works best, but you can also use a small to medium ceramic mug.
* make sure the steam wand is fully immersed in the milk, submerged at least 3/4 inch to an inch. if it is too shallow, the force of the steam may be blowing milk off the surface of the cup and back in your face. I usually tip the pitcher about 45 degrees and put the wand almost to the bottom of the pitcher.
* only steam the milk until it is just hot, not boiling. You can get an inexpensive expresso thermometer (quick-read thermometer), or hold your hand under the bottom of the metal pitcher.
Hope this helps!

How is the Taste of the coffee? I like the stronger variety. Some espresso makers make rather mild.
George on Nov 3, 2012
Best Answer: I used to use a press and had only 1-2 cups a day. I find it hard to stop drinking the stuff from Saeco. Within limits you can control the strength by making the charge larger, and the grind finer. I find that 2 half shots into a full coffee cup is richer than one large one.

Only downside is that once the beans are in the machine you cannot change the blend until they are all gone, like switching from regular to decaf.

I have one of these and recently the steam/hot water dispenser stopped working. When I turn the knob I can hear it trying to run the pump but nothing comes out of the wand. Any idea which part may not be working or is it just some clogged pipe?
A shopper on Jan 24, 2014
Best Answer: How often do you descale your Vienna? I might suggest trying to descale, and also removing that panarello wand and soaking it to be sure it's clear. Check the steam wand to be sure that there is no blockage at the metal stem either. Finally, I might suggest turning the knob open and pressing it into the machine. If water dispenses only when you are pressing the wand into the machine, then you likely have a issue with your steam valve seat that requires repair. We'd be happy to take a look at that here, just fill out the form and we'll issue you a repair authorization to send it in!

I purchased two of the Saeco Vienna Plus Superautomatic Espresso Machine - Certified Refurbished. I also have an older model of the same thing that lightening damaged. One of the two new ones recently started only pumping enough water for a small espresso shot, then the red light comes on. I can get hot water from the steamer if I allow it to pump, then turn it off and back on several times. Any ideas what could be causing this error?
Terry D on Jan 27, 2015
Best Answer: It sounds like your grind setting may be a little bit too fine, so the water isn't able to push through very well. Or, you may have some scale built up on the water pathways which doesn't allow as much water to flow through as it should. I would recommend doing some maintenance to the machine and potentially going one or two notches coarser, then brewing 4 times before you reevaluate since that will clear out the mixture of the old and new grind settings.

For maintenance, you should try descaling, and cleaning out the brew unit, paying special attention to the screen to make sure there isn't any build up there. Here's a video to walk you through getting to that screen on the brew unit:

I have this machine and the brew unit will not come out. Any advice for me?
A shopper on Oct 19, 2014
Best Answer: If the brew unit will not come out on your Via Venezia, then I would suggest powering the machine off and on to reset the gears in the machine. Once there is no more noise and the internals have stopped moving you should be back into the home position and be able to easily remove your brew unit. If you are still having trouble it could mean that the brew unit was inserted out of place or there is trouble with the gear in the machine you may need to bring the machine in to an authorized service center for repair.

It is Manufacturer refurbished? how many pounds is it shipping weight? What accessories included in the box ?
Mason X on Aug 17, 2014
Best Answer: The Vienna Plus is refurbished by us here at Seattle Coffee Gear, as we're an authorized service and refurbishment center. It is about 24 pounds, and a refurbished machine includes everything you need to brew, however it does not include non essential accessories like a frothing pitcher or a water filter.

The coffee is delicious, but it's not very hot. The machine puts out steam with the coffee, but it still is rather lukewarm. How can I get it to make hotter coffee?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2013
Best Answer: Unfortunately there is not a way to increase temperature in the Vienna Plus, but there are a few things you can be sure to do to increase temp. Always preheat your cup with a bit of hot water before you brew to be sure that a cold cup isn't lowering that temperature for you. The second espresso will always be hotter than the first, because the lines are preheated. Finally, if you've not descaled in a while (or ever!) I'd suggest going over this process in order to be sure that there is no scale build up in the unit preventing the machine from reaching full temperature. Hope this helps!

Will this machine also provide hot water on tap for tea or other hot drinks?
Jeff D on Sep 27, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, you can get hot water from the Vienna Plus for tea by letting the machine heat up to brew- not steam- temperature and then turning the knob to allow a stream of water to dispense from the steam wand.

Do you know what Saeco Cappuccinatore will fit this machine?
A shopper on Sep 10, 2013
Best Answer: Unfortunately there is not a cappuccinatore that will fit the Vienna Plus machine. Your best bet would be either a stand alone frother, or a machine that comes standard with a cappuccinatore, like the Odea Cappuccino machine found at the link below.

How many bars of pressure is this Saeco Vienna machine?
A shopper on Oct 25, 2012
Best Answer: The Vienna Plus is rated at 15 bars. Though some machines are advertised as greater than this, this rating does not necessarily mean you will have a better shot! A number of features go into producing great espresso and bars of pressure should not be the only focus.

Just Wondering if anyone knows how this would compare to purchasing a brand new Saeco Via Venezia or a Breville Infuser 840xl ? I noticed I could save a considerable amount buying a refurbished Saeco Vienna Plus Superautomatic Espresso and wondered what would be my best buy overall of the three. Anyone know? Thanks.
A shopper on Jan 31, 2013
Best Answer: The refurbished machine is a great option for somebody wanting to enjoy the convenience of a super automatic. I'm not sure about the size of the other two espresso makers, but the Saeco Vienna Plus does have a large "footprint" on the counter. Note, too, that you cannot use already ground beans in this machine; only whole beans. So far, it seems to work well, but as with all frother devices, you MUST descale frequently. We've experienced trouble with our particular machine because a red alert light comes on from time to time. The only way to reset is to open the front of the machine and touch/wiggle a few moving parts (gently). Then all is well and we can continue with our espresso creations. I also wanted to state that Seattle Coffee Gear is a quality business. They stand behind their products and offer speedy service. Dealing with a reputable company is just as important as your purchase choice.

Bought my Saeco Vienna Plus 3 yrs ago. It is still going strong! My wife and I both use it every morning. We have had no problems with it. There is very little cleanup- just dump the coffee pucks every so often and clean the brew group once every week or two. It makes really great coffee and is the best value out there! I had a refurbed Saeco Vienna Deluxe that lasted over 12 years and needed replacing. I bought the refurbed Vienna Plus a few months ago and it is a great replacement. I think it heats quickly for brewing and then again for steam. It's considered an entry level machine, but it does everything I need. (Posted on 12/31/2014)

We've had ours for 3 years and can't live without it! We don't need to go out for coffee because it is better than anything you can find, and buying this machine will probably save you money over time because of the great refurb price. We clean ours regularly and have never had any trouble at all. My parents have a Jura, and while I prefer the look of their machine (the Vienna is plasticy) and how quiet theirs is (the squeaking will wake you up as much as the caffeine), the Vienna Plus has more adaptability and makes a tastier cup of coffee and at a fraction of the price. Get this machine- you won't be sorry! (Posted on 12/17/2014)

We initially LOVED this machine. Bought it to replace our Saeco Magic Comfort plus (which we also loved) which finally died after about 8 years of use. The Vienna is a better design and was great....until it began to malfunction....exactly 6 months after we bought it...... We tried lots of "fixes" for it as we live in an isolated area of Kansas (no way to have it repaired without fairly expensive shipping)....and it would get a little better ...then not work again. We debated sending it back for repair but estimated the cost would be more than buying another refurb machine. So while I do recommend the Vienna--I'm not sure I recommend the refurbished Vienna. If you buy the refurb one definitely get the extended warranty. (Posted on 9/30/2014)

I bought refurbished machine.
I saw some scratch. It looks old.
This machine was exchanged from first order.
My first order was Saeco Xsmall and it has some problem I think.
Thus, I decided to exchange another model.
BUT, it should be paid for shipping fee. I just paid and understood.
When I got refund, my credit was paid again for shipping fee.
Second shipping fee was for first order shipping fee.
I was really upset because returned machine has no problem as company said.
I really regret I didn't take video with some problems
Please check the policy carefully before you order.
The shipping fee was incredible.

First refurb was DOA, so after ten days to return I got the second refurb and it worked fine. Takes longer to heat than I care for, especially when waiting for that first cup in the morning. I have the dose maxed and grind set to almost lowest (fine) setting to get the strength suitable. I prefer hotter temp, but I'm sure that is not recommended by the barista-rati. Overall a good value, but I may upgrade to a Jura. (Posted on 7/11/2014)

Fast shipping. It came much sooner than I was expecting. Easy to set up and use. Everyone can use it, husband and the older teens love it. Looks like a new machine. It is ready to use pretty fast after you turn it on. We've ran many different kind of beans through it. It is plastic, which is a concern. So I just go real easy when using it. No problems in the few weeks we've had it. We make a dozen (or more) drinks a day. (Posted on 3/16/2014)

I ordered my new machine because i was tired of drinking French Press coffee and it took forever to boil the water, then steep the coffee before enjoying a decent cup of coffee. I used to have a cheeper manual Breville espresso maker, but it died within 3 years of owning it. This machine, the Saeco Vienna Plus had great reviews and a friend of mine has an older Saeco Vienna that they are absolutely happy with. So I ordered this machine and 3 days later, I was enjoying my very first latte. Did I mention I chose the 5-9 business day free shipping option, and it was shipped to me within 2 days. Impressive!

I'm still playing with the coffee strength setting to get just the right taste, but so far, I'm very happy that I invested in this machine. The steamer is much quieter than I envisioned and the pucks that come out at the end of the brew process are uniformly compact. I recommend this machine to anyone. (Posted on 3/1/2014)

We drink a lot of coffee! Mostly Americanos with the occasional latte. In the two weeks we've had this machine, we have run 72 doubles through it.

Despite the plastic construction and overall fragile feel of the Vienna Plus, we have been pretty impressed with its apparent durability. It does its job with confidence, acceptable noise level and only the occasional groan or squeak.

Our one and only concern at this point is that after a week of use, the temperature of the espresso has dropped off dramatically. Having changed nothing - ie grind/ dose setting, beans,etc.- and making sure the machine is clean, cups warmed, etc. Still tastes pretty good and we now use a kettle from which to add hot water for our Americanos, but it is a bit of a concern for future extraction quality.

Of course it's too late for a return, so we'll see how things turn out in the long run.

SCG is great! Order processed and delivered quickly! The machine looked like it had never been used and the extra instruction sheets were much appreciated. Thanks! (Posted on 1/2/2014)

I ordered the Vienna plus after a friend served me a few double shots from their eight year old Vienna. They paid over 600.00 for theirs and felt that it owed them nothing since all they have done for upkeep over the years is regular descaling and basic cleaning. They pull an average of two shots every weekday and another six or eight over the weekends. NO issues ever.

So I found SCG with a quick Google search and ordered the Vienna Plus at well under half the normal retail price! We live on the East Coast, so it took five days to get here. When it arrived, the water reservoir was cracked from UPS dropping the box on it's back. Called SCG and they immediately send out a new reservoir which arrived in two days via USPS.

Filled the reservoir, poured in the beans, primed the system, following the very clear directions supplied. Set the grind at #10, max amount of coffee and set the dial for a double shot. Hit the brew button. Ran like a champ. Espresso seemed a bit weak.

I then discovered the problem when I saw whole beans in the puck. Apparently, during remanufacturing, the rubber bean hopper gasket was not reinstalled and a bunch of the beans fell down into the machine. Called SCG and Brittney took care of things cheerfully and immediately. She sent me a new gasket and a link to their video explaining how to install the gasket. Took all of about a minute.

My first double shot with the gasket in place was as good as any espresso I've ever had. Boy am I happy!

The Vienna Plus might seem less than solid by some because it is mostly plastic. However the brew center (the guts that actually do the work) is very robust. OK, it's plastic, but unless you are planning on being really rough with it, it doesn't matter. Some have complained that he grinder is loud. Are you kidding? We have a grind and brew drip machine that we use for "first thing" coffee as it has a timer that allows us have fresh coffee as soon as we wake up. Now that thing is loud! And our standalone burr grinder is even louder. Burr grinders are loud. The one in the Vienna Plus is a very quiet burr grinder.

At this price, this is an amazing machine. And SCG's service could not be better. You know what to do now. (Posted on 11/11/2013)

I've only had my product for roughly a month, but it's really a dream. at work we have a $2K machine, and honestly the quality of the espresso here is just as good. the construction is a bit off-putting at first--it seems like flimsy plastic, but it is really a rock-solid machine.

the SCG folks do an amazing job with the refurbishing. I have no complaints. We'll see if the lifetime is as-advertised (5+ years), but i'm a very happy customer so far! there is nothing on the market in the fully automatic category that competes for quality at even 2x the price point. this is a magical machine. I have had the previous model of this machine for 12 years. Really. It's got a little bug now - but still makes me great espresso every day. This is the way to make coffee - just push a button.

$250 is really a great price. I think I paid $450 or so for a refurb version of the previous model. (Posted on 10/12/2013)

We received this as a wedding present from a dear friend. Didn't know it was refurbished since it came in the original box, but could care less about that!

I am not (or should I say, I wasn't) a coffee snob or even well versed in coffee... ie: I like some coffee with my flavorings! This machine has ruined me!!! I can't stand to drink coffee anywhere else now!

It took some tweaking and more than a few calls to the AMAZING people at SCG to get it down, but now that everything is just so... WOW! The entire family (husband and 4 kids ages 10-18) are hooked!

It's a great machine and fairly easy to use. It only has two downfalls for me. First, the warning light not telling you what of 3 possible things is wrong with the machine. Although, you can tell if it's that the beans have run out by the sound of the grinder and if you're quick, you can add beans while it's grinding to avoid the error light. If it's that the water has run out, you have just wasted the beans that were ground for that brew because it will dump them and you have to start all over after you add more water. Grrrr. The second is that I wish the receptacle for the pucks was a bit bigger. As I said earlier... 6 people hooked on the deliciousness that comes out of this machine... it fills up quickly! The Vienna Plus is a no frills, no nonsense machine. It does what it is supposed to do, which is make great coffee.

I chose to take the refurbished path for cost saving reasons. I figured I am going to get an "as good as new machine" for half the price. I was right.

The machine received from SCG shows some signs of previous use, but is otherwise perfect.

The combination of a full auto convenience, conical burr grinder, large water tank and bean hopper, good frothing capabilities and a reasonably good looking design, at this price level, is unbeatable.

It has a wide range of adjustments (grind, coffee and water amounts). it is simple to operate and easy to clean and should suit anyone looking for a super-auto with the goal of great coffee in mind. Surely, there are prettier machines around, with more bells and whistles, but I am pretty confident that the coffee they are producing is not significantly better. I have drank some good espresso, around the globe, for the past 25 years and I can vouch for the quality of the coffee produced by the Vienna Plus.

Paired with good quality coffee (BTW, the Lavazza sent with the machine was very good) it will produce a great tasting espresso based drinks. It will also work for other coffee drinks, if you insist.

I have tried the machine with the Lavazza Oro, some market bought beans and Paradise Rasters Espresso blends. In general (and as expected) the machine does a consistent job and the coffee quality is mostly dependent on the beans.

I can highly recommend this machine, refurbished or not, through SCG.

Cheers. (Posted on 9/5/2013)

So, the older model i had that finally went dead seemed to be much better. This machine is not producing the depth of the taste i had before. I am adjusting settings. It looks like the extraction is not fulling taking place. I seem to see some different colors in the emitted puck, i think they should all be dark. I am going to keep adjusting and hope for the best. The heat is fine on my machine, and the crema is beautiful, in fact it looks better but the full cup setting is too watery at this time. I will keep tweaking setting before i call customer service. The grind is not fine on the smallest setting. Water is not hot enough. The coffee is weak even on the strongest setting. Cheap flimsy plastic outer case. Very easy to use, nice water tank and good design if you don't mind weak coffee that is not hot. Steams milk nicely with the stainless panarella. Grounds in the dredge box were loose, coarse and dry. It is possible that it is just the grinder on this particular refurbished machine. The price is the strong point but you get what you pay for. To be fair, I am more suited to a semi-auto machine. I just bought this machine about a week ago. I was very hesitant since it was refurbished and seemed to be an entry level super automatic espresso machine. However, for the past week I have used it 5 times a day and it runs like a champ. Here are my key points:

Pros:
1. SUPER affordable
2. EXTREMELY easy to use
3. Large water tank
4. perfect size bean hopper
5. Quick startup (1:30 mins)
6. Clean

Cons:
1. Plastic parts and enclosure make it look and feel cheap.
2. 1st espresso brew after startup isn't that great.
3. I wish the espresso was hotter when being dispensed.
4. Very finicky, find your settings and leave it.
5. Usually after using the steam wand you have to bleed
it to brew an espresso, this takes some time and the milk
cools down.
6. No bypass doser.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE if this will be your first superautomatic espresso machine. Even though it is refurbished there seems to be no issues and comes with a year warrenty.

SeattleCoffeeGear has provided me with a solid product.

NOTE: SeattleCoffeeGear added alot of extra gifts which is equivalent to a $ value. However, they did ship the wrong color ( I asked for graphite but got silver). I didn't mind and was actually glad they did because it looks better in my kitchen. (Posted on 6/18/2013)

Love our first espresso machine. Didn't want to spend a lot at first, no regrets.

Only complaint is after you steam milk, it takes a long time to warm up to make another cup. Which is fine if you are only making one cup, but a pain if you are trying to make 2 cups in a row. (Posted on 5/24/2013)

This machine replaced the discontinued Saeco Royal Office we used for years, which finally had problems after 27,000 shots (it had a counter).
We used the Aeropress for awhile (which amazingly, makes almost as good a cup as these machines).
Then we finally decided to get another machine.
This new Vienna + machine is better in several ways over our last machine, even though it lacks some bells & whistles of the (much) more expensive machines.
One advantage is the warm up time. The old machine took about 2 minutes, where this one is super fast at around 30 seconds.
While the water tank and bean hopper are smaller, I think this keeps the water fresher and you’re able to switch beans more often if you so desire. They are large enough to get my wife & me through a days worth of coffee.
We don't use the frother since it really slows down the process...waiting for it to heat up more & then cool down again; not to mention more wear n tear on the machine. We just use a frothing disc on the hand blender, then microwave20-30 secs and by the time our shots are done, the milk is ready. In our opinion it is better froth than the machine makes, and even better than the dedicated frothing machine we used to have.
Of course the best beans are when we roast our own. The best store bought are Cafe Altura organic (Italian Roast).
So far we are very pleased with this machine. While it feels a bit more fragile than the old machine, it is lighter and takes up less space & it is actually quieter than the old machine.
Time will tell on the durability, but so far, you just can’t beat it for the price. It blows away the bland coffee you get from those over-priced “K-machines”.

One thing missing from the original model I got 5 years ago was the circle stand on bottom to easily rotate machine. Just took off the one I was replacing and stored for back up. First couple of trys, it did not grind beans, but went through rest of cycle. Unplugged, took apart, then put all back together, worked great ever since. Once had first machine go down, had to send to authorized repair shop, closest one about 100 miles away, and litterally suffered with inferior coffee for a couple of months due to time to get broken part from Europe. Now am confident with back up to always have great coffee. (Posted on 3/29/2013)

I bought the Vienna Plus to replace a refurbished V'spresso machine (from another dealer) which had broken in 8 months. After researching repairing the V'spresso, I realized I needed to get a new machine to have coffee reliably.
The Vienna Plus was such a great price! I picked it up and it's been a great machine. I had to get used to the single boiler but that didn't take very long. It's a lot quieter than my V'spresso as well. Overall a great, reliable machine, that's design is a lot more reliable than my old V'spresso! (Posted on 3/24/2013)

We have one of these in our office of about 15 people. This machine works extremely hard, is seldom maintained (de-scaled, grounds emptied, etc..), and yet continues to perform after 1.5 years of light commercial use (~ 5 lbs per week). For comparison, we killed two standard drip machines in the first six months.

The other thing I would like to point out is that parts are available for these machines. I believe the ability to repair products is something we often overlook when considering how "green" a product is. If a product fails, it is often either not repairable, or the repair cost exceeds the purchase price. Saeco had serviceability in mind when they built this machine, and it shows.

We are thoroughly impressed with the quality of parts and design of this machine, as well as the quality of the coffee it produces. Most of our office staff are looking to pick one of the refurbished models up from Seattle Coffee Gear for home use. (Posted on 2/28/2013)

This is a very nice machine. Excellent value for the money. Brews consistently great espresso for 5months now. Easy to clean. The only problem I have is the milk frothing wand. Many times I cannot get the steam to froth the milk. It just overheats the milk without producing foam. It worked better when I bough it, but after few uses, it started being inconsistent. Sometimes it does ok, and sometimes I just get a hot milk. I wonder if this is my machine, or if this is a design problem. (Posted on 2/23/2013)

I've been using a refurb Spidem-Trevi (Same machine) for years with NO problems. You will need to decalcify every now and then and rinse the unit (I use an old toothbrush to get some of the hard to reach places.) Want to change beans? Let the hopper run out.

Cannot beat the features at this price. Sure, the case is plastic, but the (2) boilers are SS and it has a conical burr grinder. (Posted on 1/2/2013)

I wanted a single cup machine that made excellent coffee quickly and easily. This is it! I tried three different types-(little capsule one, French press, and Italian mokka steamer) before I settled on this one. The cost was a bit prohibitive for me...until I found a refurbished one. I'm happy now--great coffee every AM. My neighbor comes over, too. She says it's because she knows how I like to simply push the button, but I know she's hooked on this coffee as well. I'm using Starbucks espresso blend right now but am looking forward to trying various roasts--that's its one drawback--a bit difficult to change the type of coffee being used. (Posted on 10/11/2012)

I have had the machine for 2 weeks and I love this thing. I am a 3 to 4 cup a day coffee drinker. I find myself becoming a coffee snob and only like the coffee that comes from my new machine.

This turned out to be exactly what I wanted. I wanted to make a "Starbucks iced white mocha" each morning and this machine is the perfect way to do it. Wake up, press the on button (I power down the machine after use because I'm only making 1 or 2 a day). Gather the ice, chocolate sauce, and milk. By the time that's done the machine is ready so I hit the espresso button. Thirty seconds later I'm off to work, enjoying my beverage. With the automatic grinding and water tank it ends up being far easier and faster than making regular coffee (to say nothing of the better taste). (Posted on 8/14/2012)

I have bought 2 of these refurbished units in the past 2 months, one for work and one for home. They are my first superautomatics, and I couldn't be much happier. I drink 4-5 espressos or lattes a day, and 3 of my colleagues are hooked already.

My only complaint is that the panarello doesn't seem to draw any air through the very small air port at the top. It behaves like the steam wand of my simple Krups steam espresso maker when the air port gets clogged up. Plenty of steam, but very little foam, and a slightly annoying whine, though its not too loud. The o-ring in both units I received seem to be slightly large, so I wonder if the refurbishing technician is using a larger replacement o-ring than the stock, which could completely block the air flow.

Other than that, which is a very minor objection, this is a fabulous machine. Easy to use, easy to clean, and it makes wonderful espresso and lattes. It also doesn't take up any more space than my separate burr grinder and Krups steam espresso machine, and makes a much better cup. I have cut my trips to the local coffee shop in half, which will save me as much as these cost pretty soon. I would give it 4.5 stars if that were possible.

Quiet, Quick Brewing, Easy To Clean, Easy To Use, Great Taste
