A Note About Coffee & Cups

Let us break it down for you: Although 8 ounces equals a cup in the baking world, a US cup of coffee is measured at 6 ounces and a European cup of coffee is measured at 4.25 ounces. This is why we sometimes list ounces to paint a more accurate picture of capacity.

Trying to decide between KB741 and BBG741. Is one model better than the other in terms of shape carafe (prone to dripping when pouring; sturdiness; easier to pour when full; etc.)? Is the manual drip stop more prone to breaking than the auto? Does the manual drip stop really have an advantage when making a half pot of coffee? Any other pros /cons? Thanks for your help! Kimberly

barista approvedReview by mads
I recently received a Moccamaster as a birthday/ Christmas present, purchased from the shop I work at. As a barista, I've tried all manners of coffee and find the most important factor that regular coffeemakers fall short with is brewing at the right temperature. This 10 cup beauty brews coffee that matches with Chemex and Kalita filtered pour overs in terms of quality; even better is that it maintains the right temperature for the coffee to stay at a better quality for longer. In conclusion, it's the best drip coffeemaker I've ever found and is absolutely worth the price if you're investing in a coffeemaker. (Posted on 1/2/2018)
Love it! Review by Casey
Hi all! My love for coffee is more of an obsession than an addiction. I use all sorts of brewing methods. Chemex, aeropress, blue bottle, bonmac, and hario drippers, and a french press are all in my rotation. The only reason I even looked at an automated dripper was because I just needed more coffee so I didn’t have to constantly go through all the motions of prep for each brew style. So, I pulled the trigger on this amazing piece of awesomeness! After a ton of research, I knew it was a safe bet. It produces a great, great, great cup of coffee and lots of them. It absolutely stands toe to toe with with a chemex, the drippers, french press, and in my humble opinion, smashes the aeropress. I understand they are all completely different, I am just speaking overall. So for those of you wondering if it is worth it, like I was, it is. I did consider getting the new breville because of all its features but, it came down to the mocca just being simple, easy to clean, 5 year warranty, and focusing strictly on producing an amazing cup coffee, consistently, and at the right temperature and time. Plus, Gail said it tasted better when she compared the two :) Any who, it is amazing. I love it! (Posted on 11/8/2017)
