I am interested in using this brewer with a chemex instead of the included plastic filter basket. Will a chemex fit and work well with the spray head?
Benjamin on Feb 20, 2015
Best Answer: Unfortunately, the Chemex will not fit under the brew basket's support arm, plus the heating element wouldn't be good to have the Chemex sitting on. To find enough clearance for the Chemex, and get away from the heating element, it would be better to get a Technivorm with a thermal carafe such as the KBT741 or the KBGT741. It does work with the spray head to get a good water distribution.

I have a 6 year old Jura Coffee Maker, still works great to my knowledge... Im wanting to get into a better coffee experience... Would the Technivorm be a better choice than my Jura? If so, why? Thanks!
Nick B on Dec 9, 2014
Best Answer: I can't compare the 2 coffeemakers as I'm unfamiliar with the Jura. I do recommend the Technivorm as it makes coffee at the high temperature recommended by coffee enthusiasts, and maintains the temperature, resulting in excellent flavor. It's the best coffee maker i've owned. And I would recommend using a burr grinder as well.

Does the brew through plastic lid on the glass carafe snap off for easy cleaning? And can you clean the glass carafe in the dishwasher, assuming the plastic lid comes off?
A shopper on Apr 26, 2014
Best Answer: The lid of the Technivorm KBG741 has a joint that pivots the lid up and also allows you to snap off the lid, however the plastic handle and the channel that the lid snaps into remain attached to the carafe. Since these remaining pieces could still warp, I would not recommend putting this carafe in the dishwasher.

Great coffee, simple to use Review by sheltiemom

It makes great coffee and the coffee is really hot. The coffee is better than from my old Bunn Phase Brew, which died after 4 years, and which I thought made better coffee than most. I also like my trusty Melitta nonelectric pour-overs, but the Moccamaster is a lot easier on a busy workday or when I want a large pot. I like the simple on/off switch. The machine looks great on the counter and the white metallic is very attractive. I use less coffee than the mfr and the video recommend, as usual with electrics. Wish it were cheaper, but what can you do? Competitive pricing and all the extras at Seattle Coffee Gear made it a no-brainer as to where to buy. (Posted on 3/14/2015)

Purchased mine several weeks ago, use daily and very satisfied. Technivorm brewed coffee has a depth you just don't get with traditional drip machines, regardless of the beans. Never a problem with overflowing like some reviewers have noted. Now challenged to find the perfect grinder to compliment a Technivorm. (Posted on 9/6/2014)

For my palate, which has increasingly gravitated to just black coffee over the years, the real, unexpected bonus was the enduring taste the Moccamaster achieves. Even an espresso-based Americano (made on my home Rancilio, top of the home line) had a durability factor of only about 8 to 10 minutes. After that time, the coffee honestly tasted like wet cardboard. I most often never finished a cup, because I tend to sip coffee and not gun it down like one would a beer.
The brew pot sits atop a heating element, and again to my surprise, my second cup still tastes good after 30 minutes of just being kept warm at 185F. That is another bonus, in that I do not have to make another batch.
In my own taste test between an espresso-based Americano and a cup from the Moccamaster, the taste were nearly identical. The durability of the Technivorm cup easily beat the Rancilio-made Americano. For sippers, this is critical! And the ease of making a cup versus the Espresso machine is obviously given to Technivorm.

I recommend the Technivorm. (Posted on 7/20/2014)

I have now had two of these brewers. My original ordered at Christmas which had to replaced (no problems there, very nice people at Seattlecoffee) and my current replacement machine. The original did not heat well and overflowed constantly, even after making adjustments as suggested. Now after keeping my fingers crossed that this replacement would work well I am having the same problems...overflowing and heating problems. I have to watch it constantly during brewing or risk the worse mess you can imagine.I really wanted to like this brewing system, but it seems to have problems in its operation. Disappointing. I do love this coffee brewer. Of course, who likes to spend $250 for coffee pot. But, I bought 3 Cuisinart coffee brewers in the last 7 years and all of them died after 2 or 3 years. They all did the same thing, just stopped working. I guess the heating element burns out. They smoke, then die. I'm tired of throwing out coffee makers that cost $100 The Technivorm makes better coffee, hotter coffee and looks cooler. The only thing I don't like is the cord is so heavy duty it looks like it can go on an industrial arc welder.

Anyway, I'll never own a Lamborghini, but I do own a Technivorm.

it makes coffee fast for a drip maker and it is hotter water, the only negatives I can think of is it's a little clunky, you have to disassemble it to make coffee, and the price is a little steep, but if it lasts I'll be a satisfied customer. (Posted on 6/19/2013)
