Product Description

The replacement Thermal Carafe for KBT741, KBGT741 and CDT model brewers include a brew-thru and travel lid. Thermal carafes are great for keeping brewed coffee hot without the risk of overheating or scorching on a heating element. It is always nice to have an extra thermal carafe, whether you use it to brew from these popular Technivorm Moccamaster models or just use it as a sturdy serving carafe for hot or cold drinks.

A Note About Coffee & Cups

Let us break it down for you: Although 8 ounces equals a cup in the baking world, a US cup of coffee is measured at 6 ounces and a European cup of coffee is measured at 4.25 ounces. This is why we sometimes list ounces to paint a more accurate picture of capacity.

Purchased my coffee maker in April, with replacement carafe within one month.
Both carafes no longer keep coffee hot/outside of both is as warm as a non-thermal carafe.
Neither was dropped or put in dish washer--hand cleaned only with recommended Urnex products.
Suggestions ??

Best Answer: I have 2 pots. One came with the maker and the other was purchased as an accessory. Similar to what you have done. I noticed one morning that the pot was making noise like sucking air. Being an engineer I needed to know why. What my investigation discovered was the seal around the top was different between the 2 pots! What was different was one did not have one and was all stainless and the other was plastic. What was happening was as the coffee cooled it wanted to suck in air. So the pots to own have the black plastic ring that the lid seals against.

Will this carafe fit the older model, type 741.03/A, prod0604, model KB-thermal ?

Also i would like to buy a replacement screw top lid for the original thermal carafe of this model. Do you sell this?
Kathryn T on Dec 5, 2013
Best Answer: Yes , this is the same carafe that I purchased for my 741.03a It came with a new lid and the thermal brew lid that keeps the coffee hot while and after it has brewed. This brew lid did not come with my original carafe so it was an added bonus when I recieved it. Hope this answers your question.

inside looks corrodedReview by apples
this is my third carafe. I replace them because the inside starts looking unsafe to drink out of. i rinse it everyday, makes no difference. (Posted on 12/5/2014)
Carafe quality stinksReview by DZ
I am about to order my 3rd carafe in 3 years. As expensive as this coffee maker is I would think they would stand behind the carafe. I wrote them an email but got no response. It makes such good coffee though.... (Posted on 9/25/2014)
Still love it after 3 years!Review by Elljay
People are mistaken about the carafe losing its insulation properties! It does not have insulation which is why the instructions tell you to put hot water in carafe to warm it up. Coffee doesn't last long enough in this house for insulation to be necessary! Makes as awesome pot of coffee! (Posted on 4/15/2014)
Excellent Review by Paru1
This carafe keeps the coffee warm for hours! I make coffee at 7:30 am and at 2pm it's still hot.. Have yet to find any thing better!!!, (Posted on 4/9/2014)
Poor quality. does not stay hotReview by Beth
Same as I've read above. Replaced three times in five years. (Posted on 2/1/2014)
Loses insulating property after a few monthsReview by Raymond
I'm on my 3rd carafe in 3 years and have never put any of them in the dishwasher, submerged them in water, or mistreated them in any way. After it loses its insulating property, I put hot water in it before brewing; and the metal outside rapidly becomes very hot. A carafe this expensive should perform better. Is there a suitable replacement? (Posted on 12/4/2013)
Replacement pot different. Better or Not?Review by Mr Dave
Needed to get a second pot. The pot that came with the machine was all metal at the neck. When you sealed it up it popped like air was entering. The replacement pot at the neck is a plastic nylon. It does not pop. What I am thinking is that the newer pot is made to keep the hot coffee hotter and not cool down like the older all stainless pot. The coffee is plenty hot of about an hour, then it is all gone! The only way to test this further is to let the coffee sit in each pot for the same period of time and then measure the temperature. This Carafe is Not well madeReview by Ted
I've replaced the carafe on my MoccaMaster 3 times now in four years. Does anyone else have this problem?? (Posted on 10/13/2013)
What's not to love?Review by NY Capricorn Girl
We've been enjoying our Moccamaster coffee maker for more than 2 years now and not only do we have absolutely no complaints with either the maker or the caraffe, we can say this is the best way to make coffee at home. The whole experience is well worth the price of admission. The only reason we needed to replace our caraffe was because my husband took it for a ride off the roof of his truck (long story with a sad ending for our first, dented caraffee... but I digress.) We find that if we pre-heat our caraffee with boiling water before brewing, our coffee will stay drinkable long after we might dare to indulge - hence the need to take it with us for Sunday family visits (we should probably get a leash for it!) As for keeping it clean & happy: we've found that a little baking soda and a bottle brush can remove any build-up without leaving any soap residue. (Posted on 7/30/2013)
Good Carafe but FragileReview by Bob
I have had the Technivorm for two years now and think it is a great product. However, I've had to replace the carafe twice because after some period of time (months) it doesn't keep the coffee hot for more than an hour or so. Before I ordered the most recent replacement I read some critiques on your website and one commenter said that he had put the carafe in the dishwasher and that had caused a microscopic break in the plastic base of the carafe which ruined the insulation. I realized that I had done that with the two carafes. If this is the cause I think the manufacturer should provide a warning to that effect.

Don't clean this carafe in a dishwasherReview by cmyth
If you dishwasher this carafe you may have to replace it as I did. Over-heating the carafe's plastic parts caused a very small undetectable crack that ruins the carafe's ability to retain heat.
