Description About Batdorf and Bronson Coffee Roasters - Guatemala El Volcan
Caramel and chocolate lend a classic creamy flavor to this approachable and enjoyable single origin from Batdorf & Bronson. We love those comfortable classic coffee notes along with the hazelnut twist that approaches the palate at the end of the sip. These sweet but not overpowering notes help to balance the cup and keep it from tasting too acidic or bitter. The result is a great example of exactly why we love specialty coffee so much. This is a great roast to use to introduce people to third wave roasting, and tastes delicious in a wide range of brew methods.

Recommended Brew Methods
We recommend a 16:1 water to coffee ratio for your dosing. Use a scale for best results! For pour over, use a medium-coarse grind size somewhere between drip and press levels. Start with a short pour to wet the grounds and “bloom” the coffee for 30 seconds, followed by two more pours, divided in half to reach the appropriate remaining ratio of water to coffee.

Start with a 16:1 water-to-coffee ratio for your dosing. You’ll want a medium grind size for drip brewing that’s finer than what you’d use for pourover. Make sure you give the filter basket a shake to evenly distribute the grounds in the filter for best results. Turn on your brewer and it’ll do the rest!

About The Roaster
Roasted Fresh in Olympia, WA & Atlanta, GA
If you’re a PNW local, you may remember Batdorf and Bronson from its roots: The Dancing Goats Coffee Bar in Olympia, which was started by Batdorf and Bronson owners Larry and Cherie Challain. In 1994, they opened their first Batdorf and Bronson store in Atlanta, taking the spirit of Washington coffee back East. These days, the Challains are working on building a bonafide coffee empire, with their two beloved coffee shops flanking the U.S. in Atlanta and Olympia.
