How to Descale the Rocket Espresso R58

If you're not using a sophisticated water filtration system in your house or on your espresso machine, then descaling it regularly is essential maintenance. A few hallmark signs of scale build-up include decreased steam power, temperature fluctuations and leaking from the wands or brew head when the machine is idle. But instead of waiting for these signs, we highly recommend that you put your machine on a regular descaling schedule (every 1 - 3 months, depending on your water's mineral content) to nip any of these kinds of performance issues in the bud! When you have a double boiler espresso machine like the Rocket Espresso R58, you need to descale both the steam and brew boilers. It's a relatively simple process, but does take some time and you need to take care to address as much of the large steam boiler as possible. Watch as Gail guides us through performing this on the R58 from start to finish. Using a fierce concentration of Dezcal, she tips the machine in every direction during the descale, then performs a very thorough rinse. Check it out!
