Nothing can ruin the relaxation-inducing ritual of drinking tea like actually having to make it yourself. Watching the kettle boil and timing your brew so you get the perfect flavor is stressful — so let Breville's One-Touch Tea Maker take over to produce an excellent cup of tea at the touch of a button. Preset brew time is available for green tea, white tea, oolong tea, black tea and herbal tea. The glass carafe and stainless steel basket are long lasting for years of tea service.
Features & Functionality of the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker
Programmable Temp and Timing: Select from several pre-set temperature settings recommended for different types of tea -- green, black, white, oolong or herbal. You can also choose different steeping times based on how strong you like your tea and the type of tea you're brewing, or customize both options to your taste.
Auto-On: Add your tea and water, select the temperature and steep time and then set the brew time. The brewing will automatically begin at the chosen time, so you can wake up to a fresh cup of tea.
Magnetic Basket: The brew basket travels in to and out of the water using the magic of magnets! OK, it's not really magic, but the basket is also designed for 360-degree saturation of the tea leaves for an excellent, rich extraction. And we think that's almost like magic.
Flat Line Brew Temp: The kettle will reach the specified temperature, then you'll lower the brew basket and remove it once the steep time is reached. This results in a richer cup of tea that brews faster than most tea companies will recommend, primarily because it is being brewed at a flat temperature in the kettle and not in a mug with water that is slowly cooling down after being poured.
Programmable Time and Temperature Based on Tea - You can select the preset temperature and time for the type of tea you're brewing or customize it to your tastes.
Unique Design - We love the magnetic basket and the dual functionality of the tea maker as a water boiler.
Auto Start - If you can't get out of bed until the tea is ready, this is a great choice!
Care and Cleaning - You can't wash the kettle in the sink or dishwasher because of the electrical components on the bottom, so you definitely need to run the cleaning cycle shortly after use to keep the carafe clean; the lack of dishwasher-safe components may be a drawback for some.
How Does it Compare?
The Breville One-Touch Tea Maker is great since it does all of the work for you and makes plenty for a crowd. 51 oz/1.5L water capacity and 41 oz max. tea capacity.

A Note About Coffee & Cups
Let us break it down for you: Although 8 ounces equals a cup in the baking world, a US cup of coffee is measured at 6 ounces and a European cup of coffee is measured at 4.25 ounces. This is why we sometimes list ounces to paint a more accurate picture of capacity.
Best Answer:We use this daily, but have never used rock sugar. If you plan to use rock sugar, I would add to the basket and not to the water directly. There is a small thermocouple at the bottom and the base is the heating element. If either of these got coated with sugar residue, it might risk proper temperature control. And lets be honest, the automatic function is the thing that makes this such a wonderful tea maker. I can't say I recommend using rock sugar, but if you do, I would say add only to the basket and then rinse well after each usage. The cleaning solution that is meant for this tea maker works very well for tea stains, but I don't know what it would do for sugar build-up.
can i still clean the jug with soap even if its immersable?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2014
Best Answer:You definitely should NOT immerse the jug in water or put the exterior under running water. You also shouldn't let tea sit in the jug for long periods (overnight). You should only sponge out or wipe out and rinse the interior with water. Actually, if you are only using it to make tea, there is no reason to use soapy water. Tea will "season" the jug so that it will actually make tea better tasting tea. The same thing applies to making tea with a teabag in a mug, if you just rinse out the mug, the tea you make in it will taste better. If you use soap, you loose that. You can use soap on the interior to clean it if you want to use it to boil water for other purposes than making tea, but it isn't necessary otherwise. Hope that helps.
It's not recommended to use a sponge or soap to clean the interior of the teapot, and definitely don't submerge the jar in water, it will then be ruined. There are instructions included with the tea maker to keeping the teapot itself clean. I haven't tried it yet, but I do know it includes white vinegar.
Actually, the carafe is not immersible (i.e., it can't be put into water). That said, I rinse the inside with clear water and sometimes run a soapy cloth around the inside of the carafe before the rinse. The point is not to get the bottom wet. I've not had a problem with the unit using this process.
I don't believe it is suitable for making coffee and we never used it that way. The times for steeping the leaves in the water seem is really suited for tea. It is a superb tea maker. My wife loves it and she is a long time tea drinker who has used many different tea makers. This one is the best.
Best Answer:No. The smallest amount of tea that can be brewed is 500 ml, just over 2 cups (17 fl oz). That's not much more than a typica large 12 oz mug holds though. I've had the tea maker for years and think it's an excellent product.
Consistent, Easy, Fun, and Makes a Wicked CuppaReview by Ray
I'm more of a coffee guy, but I go through a tea phase three or four times a year. I've never been able to brew a pot of tea as well as my British friends, but this baby is a match for even my Brit friends, who are impressed with it as well. It is consistent, easy, and even fun. I love watching the basket lower and raise; it is mesmerizing. It's pricey, no doubt, but well worth it. (Posted on 12/3/2015)
Nice while it worked, lasted <1yr, poor customer service.Review by Pied Piper
Machine was enjoyed while it lasted. We experienced what appears to be a common issue of the basket light perpetually flashing and the machine not heating water. The basket just goes up and down continuously if the machine is plugged in, water temperature and other settings can't be used and the machine doesn't heat so it is rendered useless.
Frustrated by the fact the only solution offered after contacting Brevill is to unplug the machine and plug it back in, if that doesn't work return it. We've only had it for 8mths, received as a wedding gift, and don't have a receipt. Brevill said send them a picture of the code on the bottom of the base. Turns out it was manufactured in 2011 so they won't accept the return but we can have 10% off a new one. Thanks so much, very generous (insert sarcasm). It was a good 8mths but a complete waste of money. Considering the exorbitant cost I just wish the customer service was better. (Posted on 1/9/2015)
if you REALLY love your tea...Review by chicagoland
I received this as a Christmas gift as I could not justify spending 250 on a glorified hot pot. I must say it is very sophisticated in all of its settings and does what it is supposed to do. I will def. be keeping it and using it, however, there are many ways to make a great cup of tea, and in ancient times it was an art to be learned. So it sort of makes me sad that this takes all of the mystery out of it and the process of re-steeping tea to really get to know the quality of the leaves you have. In any case, it is a nifty appliance to add to your counter and if you drink a lot of tea, and do not want to think about it (r e steeping times, repeat steeping so forth...) this is for you. Came very well packaged and worked exactly as stated. One issue, and this seems odd in design, esp. for the person who does not want to think about or deal with much in making the tea -- the entire kettle part must be carefully washed as no water should touch the bottom where it has electrical stuff that hooks into the base. So cleaning it is careful wash by hand every time. If you are really into tea, and gadgets, this is for you.
And yes, I love mine, even tho it is a pain to clean, and still trying to figure out if i can re steep expensive teas like I did previously.

How did I love without it? Review by Sara
I love this! It is easy to use and great for having my tea ready for the morning. I love the boiling water feature when I want to drink pre-bagged tea. My only complaint is the strainer doesn't get all the little bits and I end up drinking remains of leaves. I won't ever go back to the old way though, it is the best out there! (Posted on 9/22/2013)
Wonderful ProductReview by Becky
I have had this tea maker for a week now and it is wonderful to use. Makes great tea and keeps it hot in the process.
My only con for this item is that I wish the keep warm lasted longer than an hour. (Posted on 1/15/2013)
Buy it and find out why laterReview by Savvy
Bought this for my wife. I'm the coffee guru but she won't touch the stuff. She orders tea from Germany and loves it. If she buys the best she should have the best machine to brew it with. THIS is the cat's meow in the tea world and we're happy customers of SCG just like everyone else. One cleaning cycle when you get it and it's ready to go to work. When the woman is happy, everybody is happy.
Swallow the price and buy the best, you won't regret a dime. Already ordered some goodies for me from SCG immediately after this arrived at the door. Buy the best from the best, that's our motto. :) (Posted on 1/9/2013)
Breville Tea MakerReview by Meg
I have been truly amazed by the overall performance of this tea maker. I have purchased several top rated tea makers in the past and nothing compares to the ease and quality of the final tea product. Reviews have stated that the carafe cannot be cleaned and that it was a drawback. I have found that simple rinsing after use and utilizing the clean feature are sufficient to keep the system in perfect check.
Quick Brewing, Easy To Use, Commercial Grade, Great Taste, Large Water Container, Easy To Clean, Truly the best tea maker
I can't think of anything (Posted on 11/22/2010)
