Recommended Brew Methods
We recommend a 16:1 water to coffee ratio for your dosing. Use a scale for best results! For pour over, use a medium-coarse grind size somewhere between drip and press levels. Start with a short pour to wet the grounds and “bloom” the coffee for 30 seconds, followed by two more pours, divided in half to reach the appropriate remaining ratio of water to coffee.

Start with a 16:1 water-to-coffee ratio for your dosing. You’ll want a medium grind size for drip brewing that’s finer than what you’d use for pourover. Make sure you give the filter basket a shake to evenly distribute the grounds in the filter for best results. Turn on your brewer and it’ll do the rest!

For a French Press brew we recommend a 1:12 coffee to water ratio with coffee ground at the consistency of sea salt. Add your grounds to the brewing chamber. then add twice the water as there are grounds to the chamber. Stir gently and allow to bloom for about 30 seconds. Place the top on the press and allow it to steep for 4 minutes. Plunge the press slowly and enjoy!

Superautos make brewing espresso easy. All you need to do is add beans to the hopper and press a button to pull yourself a shot. If your shot is a bit sour you’ll want to dial the grinder a little bit finer and try again. If it’s bitter, dial it a little coarser. You can find instructions on how to do this for your machine in the manual. Just remember to avoid oily beans that can clog your superauto’s grinder!

About The Roaster
Roasted Fresh in Durham, North Carolina & Emeryville, California
With blend names like Fast Forward and Hologram, Counter Culture Coffee better be as forward-thinking as its branding suggests! If you take a look into the history of this Durham, NC-based coffee roaster, you’ll find a little bit of disruption and a whole lot of innovation along the way. Counter Culture Coffee was founded in 1995 by two coffee-lovers with a mission: to produce sustainable, eco-friendly coffee beans. In fact, it was one of the first shade-grown coffee makers around and launched a shade-grown, bird-friendly line of coffee in 1997.
