Grind consistency is one of the most overlooked variables in the coffee equation. Bring your espresso game up to par with the Nuova Simonelli G60 Grinder. Prosumer destined from the ground up, the G60 sports 60mm flat burrs, timed dosing and a stepless grind adjust for easy grind touch-ups. Even better, the G60's design details are sure to wow home users: tall feet make it easy to sweep under, a short hopper tops out the height at 16 inches so that it can squeeze under cabinets, and an overbuilt portafilter holder features a rubber coating to protect the chrome-plated brass of your portafilter.

Features and Functionality

  • Stepless Bottom Burr Adjust - By adjusting the bottom burr instead of the top, you'll be able to disassemble your grinder for cleaning without losing your last grind setting.
  • 60mm Flat Burrs - Wide, hardened steel burrs make shot work of grinding for espresso.
  • Timed Dosing - 0.1-second adjustable time dosing for single and double shots, or an optional manual mode.
  • One-piece Portafilter Holder - The G60's portafilter holder is rock solid and coated to protect the finish of your portafilter.
  • Burr Adjust References - The stepless burr adjustment dial features clear markers and reference points that make small adjustments really easy.
  • Tall Stance - Cleaning up loose grounds under a grinder can be an aggravating experience. The 3/4-inch feet add just enough height to brush under your grinder without having to move it.
  • Cabinet Friendly - Since you don't have to move the grinder to clean under it and the hopper is short enough to squeeze under a cabinet, this grinder is particularly well-suited for regular kitchens.
  • Beak-spout - Like the vestigal remnants of a commercial doser, the large spout is an unnecessary eyesore for a home grinder.
  • Power Button - Big, blue and prominently located on the front-side of the machine, we would have preferred a simpler black on/off switch.
SCG Staff Says... Matte black paint makes this grinder a fantastic choice next to an Oscar II or black-paneled Appartamento.

hi there, is this weight dependent and I need to fill the bean hopper to have a consistent grind or I can just put 18gram of beans and still get a consistent grind with no flying grounds.

Best Answer: Hello!

The G60 is definitely not designed for single-dose brewing (most flat burr grinders aren't great at it due to their natural retention). You'd definitely be better off filling the hopper and using the time function.

Whats the average time it takes to grind for a double shot?
A shopper on Dec 19, 2017
Best Answer: The time is in the range of 6.8 to 7.4 seconds for a double shot.

We absolutely love this grinder. The grind is consistent with relatively very little clumping. You can stop the grind, distribute the coffee, and restart grinding while maintaining the overall grind time.

Expensive grinder worth every pennyReview by DaveAtHome
I got this grinder as an upgrade from my Pasquini K2 mostly for the stepless design and the convenience of timed dosing. This grinder delivered everything I could have wanted and more. I needed a grinder that fit under my cabinets and this grinder is just the right height to fit. The consistency of the grind is excellent with no clumping and the stepless adjustments are precise, with great markings for repeatability. This makes a huge difference compared to a stepped grinder. A stepped grinder left me to adjust dose or tamp to get the time right, which led to inconsistency when trying to get a perfect recipe for a difficult single-origin coffee. The stepless design lets me select a consistent dose, consistent yield and dial in the shot time precisely in a way I never could with a stepped grinder. The grinder will produce a 22g double shot dose in 7.0 to 7.1 seconds which varies between fresh and 2 week old coffee. Normally I weigh my doses, but if I'm in a rush, I trust the timer enough to just depend on the timer knowing I will be within .1g of my target dose. The adjustments are easy to make and doesn't require a manual to figure out how to use the grinder. While the beak may look old fashioned to some, this grinder creates an evenly distributed soft pillow of grinds in the portafilter that requires very little grooming to be able to tamp a perfect puck. Cleaning the grinder is simple because the top burr is very quick to remove, and the movable burr is the bottom burr; you won't lose your grind setting by cleaning.

All the cons for this grinder a small annoyances and do not affect the fantastic quality and convenience of this grinder. This grinder just does it all right so I can focus on making those small changes to get a great espresso shot instead of compensating for the grinder.

- Stepless design
- Quality and consistency of grind with no clumping
- Distribution of grind in the portafilter requires very little grooming
- Fork supports the portafilter well for hands-off grinding for faster workflow
- Fast grind time
- Doesn't lose your grind setting when you clean the grinder
- Low retention in the grinder means it takes less wasted coffee to clear out the grounds when changing grind setting (but this is not a zero-retention grinder).

- Not an issue for me, but I would not consider this the right grinder if you want to weigh out one dose of beans at a time. It is designed to fill the hopper and reliably dose based on the timer.
- The portafilter fork is not adjustable. I tend to use a larger 22g dose. With my portafilter the pillow of coffee just touches the beak when I remove the portafilter. I would have liked to be able to adjust the portafilter holder about 2-3mm lower.
- If you do clog the grinder (which requires an unreal setting so fine that you will only extract 1-2 drops of coffee), then unclogging it is a pain. Like most beaked designed, you need to remove the timer from the top of the beak with a screwdriver, and then the finger guard inside to be able to fully unclog the grinder. I only did this as a test when I first got the grinder.
- I worry about the plastic gate in the hopper to hold the beans (so you can remove the hopper with beans in it). It flexes when you are closing it with beans in the hopper and looks like it might break if not used with some care.
- There is a screw to hold the hopper in place which is annoying to turn by hand. You need to unscrew it to remove the hopper, and screw it back in (or remove it) to remove a collar before you can remove the top burr for cleaning. It would be nice if this screw were a little easier to manipulate by hand. (Posted on 11/11/2017)
