Product Resource Details

Required Tools:

  • Phillips #2 Screwdriver, 13mm Wrench, 15mm Wrench and Needle-nose Pliers

Included Parts:

  • Steam Knob and Shaft, Steam Manifold, 2 Steam Shaft O-Rings, 2 Steam Arm O-Rings
  • Tips: The 2 Steam Shaft O-Rings are pre-installed on the Steam Knob and Shaft. Only one Steam Arm O-Ring is required, however they may break during installation so two are provided.

Instructions:

  1. Step One: Access the assembly
    • Remove the top cover of your machine. It is held in place by two screws located behind the water tank.
  2. Step Two: Remove the steam shaft clip
    • With the top cover removed you can now clearly see the entire steam valve assembly.
    • There is a black steam shaft clip on the steam valve shaft that needs to be removed. It is located near the front inside edge of the machine. Use the needle-nose pliers to grasp the black steam shaft clip and pull to remove it.
  3. Step Three: Remove steam knob and shaft
    • With the black steam shaft clip removed, the steam valve assembly may be removed by turning the knob to the left (the + direction on the knob). The old knob and shaft will now be free of the steam manifold.
  4. Step Four: Remove the steam arm
    • Remove the other black plastic clip located on the underside, next to the brewhead. Press the four tabs that keep the clip secured and it will snap free.
    • Loosen the steam wand nut that is located at the bottom of the steam manifold. It is a 15mm nut. This will free the existing steam arm from the old steam manifold.
    • Use one of the new steam arm O-rings to replace the existing one, which will show signs of wear.
  5. Step Five: Remove steam manifold
    • Pull the clear silicone hose off of the back of the steam manifold.
    • Loosen the 13mm brass locking nut that is on the steam manifold.
    • Rotate the steam manifold and remove it from the boiler.
  6. Step Six: Replace parts with kit
    • Now use these steps in reverse order as you replace the older parts with the new parts included in this kit.
    • Begin by threading the new steam manifold back onto the boiler.
    • Tighten the 13mm brass locking nut to the new steam manifold.
    • Re-attach the clear silicone hose off of the back of the new steam manifold.
    • Tighten the steam wand nut that is located at the bottom of the new steam manifold. It is a 15mm nut. This will secure the steam arm to the new steam manifold.
    • Secure the other black clip located on the underside, next to the brewhead. Press the tabs that keep the clip secured and it will re-attach.
    • With the steam shaft clip attached, the steam valve assembly may be secured by turning the knob to the right (the - direction on the knob). The new knob and shaft will now be connected to the new steam manifold.
    • Use the needle-nose pliers to push the black steam shaft clip back into place.
    • To replace the top cover of your machine, tighten the two existing screws back into position, located behind the water tank.
Tip: Visually inspect the brass tip of your old steam knob and shaft. If it appears at all compromised compared to the replacement part, then it is likely this repair fixed the problem.
