Tips and Tricks
Primula's patent pending FlavorCore System allows all MyBev products to use and share the interchangeable cores. What exactly does that mean? I'm glad you asked! If you purchase the Cold Brew Glass Carafe System and Flavor It 3-in-1 Beverage System, you can interchange and use the Cold Brew Core and Flavor Mixer with the Flavor It's carafe and vice versa with the Flavor It's infusers and Chill Core in the Cold Brew carafe. The possibilities are endless!
Best Answer:If you let it steep for a long time it will probably end up somewhere in between the Toddy concentrate and regular coffee. Unlike Toddy, the Primula keeps the ground coffee contained in the filter basket which I suspect prevents it from brewing as strong a concentrate. The filter basket lets A LOT of sediment through and I found the finished coffee to be much too chalky for me, I have since stopped using this to make cold brew. The Primula is much better suited to make tea in my opinion. If you are like me and don't love Toddy's flimsy design but really like the smooth taste, I suggest trying Oxo's cold brew system. It is far more stable than Toddy and has the option to use disposable paper filter discs. I now use Toddy's recipe in the Oxo cold brew coffee maker. I have tried Toddy, nut milk bags, Primula, using a pour over to filter a cold brew slurry, and the Oxo. The Oxo works best in my opinion.
The variables I have found that determine the strength and whether it is concentrate or ready to drink are how much coffee you put in the mesh filter, the grind, and how long it steeps before removing the grounds. I have used several different cold brew methods and each one depends on these variables. I prefer this or the Coffee Sock to the Toddy simply because it is easier. It took me some time to find the right formula for my taste, and that calibration was necessary for each method. This carafe system makes it very easy to serve.
How long do you brew the coffee for, how many hours?

Best Answer:Experiment and brew it to taste. I do not make concentrate. I make cold brew so that it is ready to pour into a glass. Toddy and others make concentrate. You can make concentrate with the Primula system with more coffee and longer brewing times (24 hrs), but I typically brew 12-15 hours. You can experiment with a short hot bloom followed by cold water, but I prefer using room temperature or filtered tap or bottled water. Hope this helps.
12-24 hrs. I usually make the day before and let it brew for at least 12 hrs. However, you can experiment with it, too, to find out if you like the taste better with fewer or more hours. I love this system!
Iced coffee has never tasted better!Review by Lisa
What a great brew! So easy to cold brew my coffee and I love that the Primula makes enough to enjoy for three to four days, no more making coffee every morning! And the carafe fits perfectly in my fridge door. I'm a coffee snob and am fussy about finding a great coffee that doesn't have bitter after taste... the cold brew coffee has a wonderfully smooth taste. I may never go back to hot coffee! I have an espresso machine, a pod brewer, a percolator and a drip coffee maker. The Primula cold brewer even beats my favorite percolator brew! (Posted on 11/8/2014)
