Product Description

Do you love Primula's Cold Brew On the Go, but often long for a little more (or a lot more!) cold brew to savor? Meet Primula's Cold Brew Glass Carafe System! Included in Primula's MyBev FlavorCore line-up, this cold brew carafe features two interchangeable accessory cores that can be easily used with other beverage systems in Primula's FlavorCore line. Use the Cold Brew Core to "brew" a tasty carafe of iced coffee and the Flavor Mixer to stir cream, syrup or to simply enhance flavor. Use those same accessories with Primula's Flavor It 3-in-1 Beverage System. After all, sharing is caring!

Features & Functionality of the Primula Cold Brew Glass Carafe System

  • Cold Brew Core: Features a stainless steel mesh insert to "brew" coffee grounds and a removable bottom to simplify cleaning.
  • Flavor Mixer: Stir in your favorite creamer, flavored syrup, or simply mix your black brew for an overall flavor enhancement.
  • Removable Top: Not only is the lid removable, but the complete top with spout as well! Remove all parts and load in your dishwasher for an easy clean-up.
  • Borosilicate Glass Carafe: This durable carafe is not only easy on the eyes, but also temperature shock proof and sure to withstand many cold brew cycles.
  • BPA Free: If you're careful with what you eat, why not be careful with what you drink? This beverage system is proudly BPA free!
  • MyBev FlavorCore System: Purchase a different MyBev product and easily use and interchange the accessory cores. May we suggest Primula's Flavor It 3-in-1 Beverage System?
Pros
  • Sans Acid - Cold brew is not completely devoid of acid, but it is 65% less acidic than the usual hot drip coffee. Be kind to your body and brew cold!
  • Brew Now and Save for Later - This handy system doubles as a cold brewer and storage carafe. Brew and store in the fridge for up to 14 days (per Primula's recommendation) for a cold caffeine jolt every morning.
Tips and Tricks

Primula's patent pending FlavorCore System allows all MyBev products to use and share the interchangeable cores. What exactly does that mean? I'm glad you asked! If you purchase the Cold Brew Glass Carafe System and Flavor It 3-in-1 Beverage System, you can interchange and use the Cold Brew Core and Flavor Mixer with the Flavor It's carafe and vice versa with the Flavor It's infusers and Chill Core in the Cold Brew carafe. The possibilities are endless!

How tall is the system including lids?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2015
Best Answer: Conveniently, the lid fits into the top, so the whole thing never gets taller than 12 inches, as that is the height from the bottom to the top of the spout, the tallest part.

How long does it take to brew?
A shopper on Jun 7, 2016
Best Answer: I drink this coffee every day, so I am always thinking ahead. I also want to get the most out of my coffee without sacrificing taste. I fill the filter with a course grind, and let it sit for 24 hours (though you can let it sit for up to 72. Then I pour it into a liter size pitcher and put it in the fridge. With the same grounds I used before, I now fill the carafe back up with water and let this sit for 12 - 24 hours. I then add this to the pitcher and it's ready to use. I like more of a latte so I mix a 1/2 almond milk 1/2 concentrate and it make s a great coffee. This may be too strong for some and too weak for others. So, for me, it takes at least 36 hours before it's ready. But having a pitcher in the fridge means I'm never without concentrate. And the lower acid makes a ton of a difference.

Does this make a concentrate like Toddy or "regular strength" coffee?
Cj P on Feb 4, 2016
Best Answer: If you let it steep for a long time it will probably end up somewhere in between the Toddy concentrate and regular coffee. Unlike Toddy, the Primula keeps the ground coffee contained in the filter basket which I suspect prevents it from brewing as strong a concentrate. The filter basket lets A LOT of sediment through and I found the finished coffee to be much too chalky for me, I have since stopped using this to make cold brew. The Primula is much better suited to make tea in my opinion. If you are like me and don't love Toddy's flimsy design but really like the smooth taste, I suggest trying Oxo's cold brew system. It is far more stable than Toddy and has the option to use disposable paper filter discs. I now use Toddy's recipe in the Oxo cold brew coffee maker. I have tried Toddy, nut milk bags, Primula, using a pour over to filter a cold brew slurry, and the Oxo. The Oxo works best in my opinion.

How long do you brew the coffee for, how many hours?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2016
Best Answer: Experiment and brew it to taste. I do not make concentrate. I make cold brew so that it is ready to pour into a glass. Toddy and others make concentrate. You can make concentrate with the Primula system with more coffee and longer brewing times (24 hrs), but I typically brew 12-15 hours. You can experiment with a short hot bloom followed by cold water, but I prefer using room temperature or filtered tap or bottled water. Hope this helps.

how many ounces of ground coffee is needed per brew?
Linn M on Jun 8, 2015
Best Answer: This is a 50oz brewer. Typically you want 2 TBSP for every 6oz. That would mean you'd need about 17 TBSP of ground coffee.

What a great brew! So easy to cold brew my coffee and I love that the Primula makes enough to enjoy for three to four days, no more making coffee every morning! And the carafe fits perfectly in my fridge door. I'm a coffee snob and am fussy about finding a great coffee that doesn't have bitter after taste... the cold brew coffee has a wonderfully smooth taste. I may never go back to hot coffee! I have an espresso machine, a pod brewer, a percolator and a drip coffee maker. The Primula cold brewer even beats my favorite percolator brew! (Posted on 11/8/2014)
