Overview
The Rancilio Silvia is back in black! Dressed to the nines and rigged with a few extra tricks up her sleeve—this exclusive release commemorates the Silvia’s 20th Anniversary since her original debut in 1998, now made even more exclusive through open box pricing. Hooded in matte-black powder coating, this open box Silvia is back with the best and upgrading the rest. The original Rancilio Silvia set the bar high for quality components and usability which has always made the machine popular with home espresso enthusiasts. Its overbuilt design suited our techs perfectly, so they made a couple of small changes!
With the open box version of Rancilio Silvia’s new release comes a PID controller that streamlines temp control and adds easier adjustments through the front-facing LCD screen. Also new to the Silvia is programmable pre-infusion timing for further recipe customization. Users can also program shot times for automatic shot controls. Equipped with more consistent shot temperatures and enough new gadgets to entertain even the most technical enthusiast, the open box Rancilio Silvia PID in Black melds classic and modern espresso beautifully.
- PID Temp Control: Digital temperature management offers higher accuracy, to-the-degree temperature control, and quicker recovery when brewing or steaming.
- Pre-Infusion: The PID controller also adds pre-infusion and wait time to help with espresso preparation.
- Programmable Shot Time: Set your total shot time in advance for easier shots.
- Prosumer Components: The open box Silvia's survivor status is built on a steel case, solid brass boiler, and portafilter and group designs from Rancilio's commercial line that all offer excellent service life.
- Backflushable: An integrated 3-way solenoid valve makes the open box Silvia group easy to clean, and helps to relieve back-pressure from the portafilter for cleaner coffee pucks.

Pros
- PID Prowess: Not only does the PID get you tighter temperature control, but it also adds pre-infusion and shot time programming.
- Build Quality: There are still original Silvias kicking around from 20 years ago. A machine with this level of build-quality is hard to find.
- Anniversary Black: These black powdercoated open box Silvias are only available for a limited time!
-
Cons
- Single Boiler: A dual-use single boiler means you'll have to manually manage temp between brewing and steaming.
