took some figuring out to get the grind to operate correctly but finally got it. Slowly getting the shots better and the milk creamier. Overall a great machine that makes learning pretty easy.

Coffee Machine

This was a wedding gift and I'm sure they are going to love it! I have bought 3 or 4 machines for my own use, a Saeco Exprelia Evo of which I left for my daughter and family after I had stayed with them for several months. I am currently enjoying my Saeco Pico Barista I have had for 8 + years now. Can't seem to live without one in my house and they have all been great reliable machines for years.

The Best Espresso System Under $1000

I'm giving this 4 Stars, but please know I love this machine, and believe its the best espresso system available for under $1000. Two issues: Breville hasn't fully solved the learning curve issues all espresso machines have. Specifically, dialing in the grind is a frustrating experience that ultimately was solved by a clue I found in a YouTube video about adjusting the internal burr. That worked. And while some pooh-pooh the Impress tamper, I've found it very accurate. The other issue is the steamer. It works, but it's slower than it could be, and it needs to be purged before each use. A detail, perhaps, but it's an annoyance with every use. Breville can do better here, but overall, when tuned and dialed in, and with good beans, the Breville Impress Express makes a latte as good or better than most cafes.

Barista Express Impress checks all the boxes

I'm very happy with this purchase. Followed one of the numerous online videos to get the grind and extraction dialed in and couldn't be happier with the consistent results. If I were to be a bit critical I would mention the frothing process is a bit slow. I highly recommend this device.

Express Impress is impressive

Makes great coffee and lattes. The process isn't too complicated but it's enough to be fun and feel like you are doing more than pushing a single button. The machine is solidly built and well designed and looks beautiful in our kitchen. Miles better than the Phillips super-auto we tried which felt cheap and made awful lattes. Did our first maintenance cycle and that was easy to do as well. Instructions are well written and installation/setup was enhanced with a video app. Would recommend.

Hopper doesn't feed well

I've had this machine for about a year. I make 8 shots per day for iced coffee so it has had reasonable use. I like the all in one machine except the hopper gets jammed up by beans on a regular basis (30% of the time). As beans are falling into the grinder they just jam up at the small openings and then the grinder fails to deliver the correct dose. So, each time I use it, I remove the hopper cover and stir the beans before each grind to prevent lockup of flow. IMO, the feed holes are just too small for the Kirkland dark roast beans I'm using. In the end, I will most likely replace the unit with another brand or try a non-combo package.

Great coffee machine, well made

The title almost says it all. This is a great machine. The automated grinding/dose feature works well, plus the built-in tamper is pretty neat. It heats up quickly. The steaming feature is easy to use and steams milk to perfection. All the controls and automatic features are well-thought out. For experts, you can switch over to manual dosing.Really happy and more than impressed by the quality of this machine and the excellent coffee it makes. Got it in damson blue, a beautiful color. You can't go wrong witih this machine.

Robust, excellent home machine. If it fails, I'll definitely get another.

Makes excellent espresso. My only two sticking points are that you don't have a lot of control over the water temperature, and the separator tray (inside the drawer) is ridiculously difficult to clean because it can't be disassembled to reach the internal areas. How I finally solved that was by soaking it in One Step, which is a basic sodium percarbonate no rinse cleaning powder used by beer brewers to clean reusable bottles, brewing equipment and so forth. I don't have a dishwasher - that would probably also work, but I don't know how the plastic would handle that heat. I had a problem with one of the solenoids buzzing after descaling with vinegar, but it cleared itself up after cycling it a few times. This seems to be a famously common occurrance which may cause people to think the solenoid has failed, but I've found this to not be the case. Replacing the solenoid coil would be fairly difficult; replacing the entire valve and coil would be a nightmare if you could even find one. (Alibaba!). However, they're very sturdy so they'll probably outlast the boiler.

Get the Oracle instead

I am not an expert and have used 2 Oracles over 8 years. This machine is no where near as good as the Oracle. Very inconsistent dose in to dose out with no changes. The dose out can vary from 42 ml to 56 ml from shot to shot and the espresso is just not as good as the Oracle. Seattle Coffee Gear staff tried to tell me that and I didn't listen:( I was hoping for a cheaper alternative since these machines only last 4-5 years.

I love this machine. So simple to make good espresso. The lever tamp is great as it removes this variable. This then lets you work on the best grind setting. Once you can work these 2 things out you'll have great espresso satisfaction! Thanks BrevilleSteve

Broken after 2 months- a pattern

Bought this 2 months ago after our 3rd(!!) oracle died and Breville asked for 500 to fix. Happy with machine untill last week. Grinder making horrible noises. Did advanced cleaning twice, no improvement. Customer support is mailing some parts even though the machine is clearly broken after just 2 months.Also- a noticeable drop in the quality of customer support when compared to my prior experiences. I decided to go back to Breville because when they work, they make a great cup.Reliability- that is something else. My next machine will not be a Breville

Great espresso with no mess!

This is my 3rd Breville espresso machine. My last had the grinder and manual tamping. Wonderful coffee, but a mess to clean. This beauty learns the amount to grind and tamp. By the 5th cup it had it down perfectly! No mess, just a wonderful espresso. It is quieter than my last machine too! It is worth every penny!
