Overview

The Chemex has become a cult classic in coffee for a number of good reasons; namely, it tends to leave people wondering how such a simple vessel creates such nuanced flavors. Surely there is magic involved; and yet, with practice and patience all your favorite flavors can be recreated and shared with consistency.

First created in a chemistry lab back in 1941, this inventive design is a culmination of studied methods and tested concepts arranged to chemically produce the best flavors possible in coffee. The Chemex Special Filter works to absorb all excess oils, leaving behind a clean coffee stream brimming with all the aromatic subtleties that are so often lost in standard brewing. With these results, it's no wonder the Chemex is one of the most highly recommended brewers of its kind.

Chemex
If you’re a fan of coffee, you’ve probably encountered the term Chemex before. This unique one-piece, hourglass-shaped vessel offers a great starting point or additional tool for your pourover toolset. All you need to get started is grounds, a filter, and hot water! People like the Chemex Coffeemaker and other pourover devices because they help to remove the bitterness from the coffee. Seattle Coffee Gear has coffee makers as well as Chemex filters, cleaners and mugs here.

6 cup

I always thought of the Chemex as a no-frills pour-over coffee brewer and I'm pleased to find out that is exactly the case. I enjoy a quality cup daily, and have even been making a little more for some iced coffee a couple days a week. Just an all around solid product.

Chemex Cracked

I was happy until it developed a hair line crack. It doesn't seem to be all the way through. I've owned Chemex before and know how to use. I think it might be a fault in the manufacture. Is there any type of warranty?

Can't beat Chemex.

I've had a Chemex for decades and use it mostly when I have company and don't want to pull espresso shots for everyone. I get solid results every time. I always use Chemex filters and pre-wet the filter and put in place and make contact all around before adding coffee. These are the simply the easiest way to make a good brewed coffee. I serve with steamed milk for a little surprise that always pleases. This was a replacement for my original that was broken.

Will order again

Fast delivery, all in good shape, thanks. We have used Chemex alternating with French press for years, when one breaks we switch. Seattle coffee gear had the pot and filters we wanted.

It's Well Built with Beautiful Design, But Can Be Improved

It certainly is a well built product with beautiful design, but it can be improved since it often drips outside when pouring coffee.

Old School Style still the best!

Old school but new again with the pour over trend. I first saw this coffee maker used on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the early 70?s! So glad they are still made! Makes an exceptionally good cup of coffee and you can?t beat the presentation!

As advertised

As most comments I have read state, the Chemex is an excellent brewer. It is likely a combination of the filter material and the ability to grind and brew to your taste. I find it to be my go to brewing method.

Spending more time to be more refined

Very nice quality and of course, classic design. A little more timeand effort to make coffee in the morning, but worth it. Chemex filters were not available at the time. Purchased Hario filters. I think the chemex filters will be easier to use as the Hario filters are a bit light weight and short for the 6-8 cup carafe. The down side to this upgrade in coffee making is I now want a burr grinder and maybe the $uper fancy Ottomatic 2.0.

BUY IT

I freaking love this thing. First time I used it I did it wrong but still came out delicious. That’s the beauty about it is that it’s almost like a science experiment. You can mess with temperature, grind, type of beans, and weight. The best part is pouring it into your cup. The way it comes out looks so clean. 10/10

So, It’s Glass. Deal With it.

The *only* flaw in this product is that it’s glass and some of us are hopeless klutzes. Give in to your personal imperfections and go for the best system for pour-over.

Loving my morning joe!

After a few days of trial and error I have perfected my morning joe in my new Chemex! I love knowing my coffee is not brewed with the help of plastics.

I am impressed with the flavor of the brewed coffee, even when it is warmed up. I am very glad that I stepped up to Chemex for my coffee brewing. I would recommend this system and this product to anyone.

Perfect Chemex Solution

Usually make brndone nice cup in the morning and my older 6 cup Chemex made terrific coffee, but it was always just a little better than lukewarm - but otherwise PERFECT. Picked up this little 2-3 cupper from Seattle (the coffee city) and now my Chemex in PERFECT and HOT ! 100% improvement. I also think the brand Chemex filters make a huge difference… AWESOME!

3 Cup Chemex brewer.

The 3 cup size makes a good small pot of coffee, but it’s a little difficult to hold and pour from when it’s hot. The wooden collar is small protection from the heat.

Smooooth Tasting coffee!!

Makes fantastic coffee. Took a little bit too determine amount of coffee to use . I measure grounds by weight, so brew is consistent. Only regret is, I bought a 6 cup for 2 people. 8 cup would be easier to work with,

Great way to brew!

I have a hario, french press, aeropress etc. and was looking for something that could make both of our coffees in one shot. The chemex makes a very clean and smooth cup. It would have been nice for them to include a sample filter or two.

Small size, is well, small.

The picture in the photo (and videos) are of the medium sized Chemex, not the small sized one.I don't recommend getting the smallest size. It makes one cup of coffee, barely, and maybe there is a small size paper filter I overlooked, but their generic paper filters are really just a bit too large. You can use them, but it's not ideal. What I thought I was buying was what I saw in video reviews and in the photo. I was wrong. Though, it's still a good filter.
