Overview

Breville may have traveled to an ancient land for the answers, but arrived at only one conclusion – the Oracle! Gather around and present your deepest coffee concerns, because we have a feeling you'll find what you're looking for.

Grinder, scale and tamper not needed! The Oracle automatically doses, grinds and tamps freshly ground beans from the ½ pound removable bean hopper into a 58mm stainless steel portafilter. While the shots brew, take advantage of the dual boilers and allow the Oracle to simultaneously froth your milk with the automatic or manual latte (less texture) and cappuccino (maximum texture) settings. No one machine has all the answers, but we think this one comes pretty close!

Be warned, be careful.

Be really careful purchasing. I bought this a few years ago, the coffee has been excellent. And now the warning. Called Seattle Coffee Gear to inquire about a service fix as the machine is leaking some water on each brewing. Imo probably a simple fix with a gasket. It's not like scalding water is speinklering out at me. SeaCofGear said call Breville. So after an hour plus wait Breville finally answer and say SeaCofGear is their local repair entity. So back to trying to get through SeaCofGear repair. 2x I'm starting the hold cue listening to my position get closer to front of the line. Both times, just after 25 minutes of hold the system jumps back on saying I'm outside business hours and drops the call. Third time in I call sales which picks up after a couple rings and run around run around says to just call service again. So here's the prob - service won't answer, SeaCofGearfirst said call Breville, Breville says call SeaCofGear, and boom Joseph Heller Catch-22. If you buy one of these from SeaCofGear and Breville for $2100+ pray you'll never have a problem because neither SeaCofGear nor Breville will service the thing and you'll now have a brand new (slightly used) shiny paperweight. This is the first $2100 paperweight I've ever bought but can assure you it's the last. And to think I was so high on SeaCofGear and Breville quality. Why buy the nice stuff when it has no backing? Here's the paperweight shot of this obviously overpriced thing

A great machine that comes on at 0545 everyday and treats me to the brewed elixir of motivation. I started my search for a new espresso machine about 7 months ago. Trying to figure out what I really wanted in a new machine. PID? Dual Boiler? What Grinder? I put my top 10 choices into a spreadsheet and weighted each of the features trying to analyze my decision. After 6 months of search I finally pulled the trigger on the Oracle Breville! I have no regrets. The espresso is great. The effort to have a great shot minimal. The groupset has worked flawlessly and after a short time tuning am very happy with the choice! If you want to become good at grinding and tamping don't buy this machine. If you want to have a great espresso with amazing consistency and true to the art shot then this is a great value! The Touch is more, and I question the need, but this met everyone of my spreadsheet features and does it flawlessly! It may be closer to automatic then semi-automatic but if you had an extra couple minutes -- grind your own beans -- do your own tamp and still have a great machine for friends to make their own drinks.I almost created espresso art yesterday and need to practice! I like it!

Still early but happy

I am somewhat reluctant to leave a review after a week. I will say that delivery and set up were easy and so far everything is working perfectly. There are many videos online referring to set up, maintenance and operation. I am upgrading from a single boiler Rancillio machine that has lasted 25 years and still works well. If this machine lasts half as long I will be happy

Upgrade from Barista Express

I had the Barista express since about 2014. It was great and I learned a lot about how grind size, tamp pressure, quality/age of beans, timing of milk/shot completion all affect the quality of the drink. I found the Barista Express made a great shot after I learned to control all the variables. It takes a bit of work clean-up with that machine. After a couple of years of dreaming about the Oracle, I saved up and made the purchase. After a quick un-boxing, I had the Oracle dialed-in within 4 pulled shots. I am SUPER IMPRESSED with many aspects. The grind, tamp and polish function is awesome - no more grinds all over my counter and perfect consistent tamp every time. The dual boiler is another win for me as I like to complete my shot and milk at the same time. The temp controlled frothing with automatic air pump gives a consistent repeatable result. I feel spoiled by something as simple as the auto-purge function on the steam wand. I get a great drink time and time again without variation or a mess to clean, I value that!

Must have good coffee

My wife and I were looking for a good espresso machine, but little we knew about it with so many to chose from. A good friend suggested the Jura brand and reviewed some ratings in Costco.com. There, someone recommended the Oracle. After a couple months of reviewing specs, performance, price and crew reviews from SCG, we knew we must had it. Thumbs up to Gail for such great comments and suggestions in all your brands, she is the best. We have had the Oracle in our kitchen for about 1 week and have enjoyed the best coffee experience, since coming back from Europe. Definitely recommend this product. Using Affirm at check out allowed us to buy in payments with no interest, no tax and SCG provided an extra year of extended warranty at no cost in addition to 4 Bodum Bistro mugs thru a gift certificate.Best shopping experience so far.

Much better than we imagined

Upgraded from a 6 year old fully automatic Saeco Syntia (that we also got from SCG). So much to like about this machine. Easy and quick. Fun to use - we fight over who gets to make the coffee. The shots come out just right. The auto-steam (coupled with the double boiler) is fast and makes perfect foam. Was afraid it would be over-kill, as we're not coffee-obsessed. But we're extremely pleased with our choice.

Disappointingly Fragile, Breaks Constantly.

Constantly breaking. I love this machine, but only when it works right, and it is always breaking. I'm on my second unit in less than 3 years, so I'm $4400 into this and the situation is only getting worse. Although I descale and clean it religiously and use only bottled water, my first machine died after only 9 months. Breville fixed it, but it soon died a second time just after Breville's warranty ended but SCG's was still supposedly in place. They would not fix it, however, which led me to purchase a second, because I do love that coffee! Unfortunately, my second machine, bought in 12/22 died in July 23. Barely lasted 8 months. Same malfunctions, pump running continuously, thing spitting water all over the counter. It's a great machine that does everything, but not sturdy enough to be up to the task of daily use, and I only make 2 cups a day on most days, some days, I don't use it at all. Disappointing.

Breville will not service

This is actually a great machine and very easy to use. However, when the day comes where the machine needs service, Breville will not service this machine...

The BEST Espresso machine by far

The BEST Espresso maker by far. Easy to use, easy to clean, and makes a great drink every time. Holds a good amount of water and plenty of beans to not have to refill every time. The touch screen makes it so simple - it's worth the $ to go with Breville Oracle Touch over other brands.

My Toddler Makes Us Lattes

It's incredible. I wanted manual, my husband wanted superautomatic, and we settled here. We've only had it a few weeks, but we're both so happy with what we ended up with. And it's so simple that (very literally) my 3 year old son can (and does) make us a better latte than we're able to get in town at any coffee shop. Granted, we don't have a single decent coffee shop in town, but still. We couldn't be happier with this machine. And that's coming from a pretty big coffee 'snob' (me).

Breville Oracle does the job...consistently

This is my 2nd Breville Oracle. I love the first one... it's just going to go out for repairs/servicing after 4 years of heavy use. I thought about going for a Super Automatic, but really, when you read between the lines the milk options, although improved, just don't do microfoam. The Oracle does. Nope, I didn't need the Touch version since I make my coffee the way I already like it. This machine is the best choice for me and I sacrifice nothing. It grinds, dispenses and tamps automatically and consistently what more do you need. I know, this sounds like some ad writing 'bot' but it's a real, repeat, customer who knows what he likes.

Wonderful between breakdowns, but broke twice

We bought this in 2017. Worked wonderfully for about a year. Then it kept tripping the GFI circuit breaker and had weird electrical problems. Breville fixed it under warranty and all was well for another year until the same symptoms recurred. This time we sent it to Seattle Coffee Gear for repairs, but it was damaged in shipping. Great machine when it worked, but I’m gun shy about this model. For reference, We have an earlier model Breville dual boiler at work that has been going strong for over 5 years, so the problem might be specific to this model. Can’t say for sure

Broken heart

This was a joy to use and made great americanos. It began tripping my GFI circuit. Fortunately it was still within warranty (by one day). Breville sent a box and promptly repaired & returned it without charge. I called to find out exactly what was wrong to cause the problem. They refused to tell me, claiming to do so might divulge proprietary information. I asked for a supervisor who also refused, citing the same reason. 16 months later the same problem. They quoted $499.00 + tax to repair. I doubt if I’m going to spring for what appears to be $500 every 18 months or so to operate.

Frothing

One thing I would like to mention about the Breville Oracle is the frothing. I noticed sometimes I would have trouble getting any froth. I purchased a Viante frother to make sure I had enough foam for my cappuccino.I finally figured out that the fresher the milk the better the foam. When I got past the best to buy date on the carton I would not get any foam. When I used new milk I had all the foam I needed from the Oracle and I don't need the extra frothing machine at all.

Upgraded the espresso experience

Upgraded from a super automatic (which I liked a lot) and so far very impressed with this one. Allows you to better appreciate your coffee beans as it brings out a very rich flavorful experience every time. It’s wonderful to be able to customize and tailor your espresso for whatever drink you would like to create. Also, I called Seattle Gear prior to purchasing and was impressed by their excellent customer service.

Beware!

Bought this machine in 2015 and in less than 2 yrs it broke down, luckily it still under warranty and i was able to send it to breville company and they were able to fix it and now after a year and a half it broke again. I will never purchase this machine again!

electronic/environment problems

My Oracle continually displayed Descale and change filter messages. Breville replaced the unit multiple times but the problem always returned. It was likely something in my environment but Berville was never able to resolve it. Not even bottled water helped.SCG was great a helping me with Breville.

Second one seems okay

This is the review for my second Oracle. The first one arrived with a malfunctioning grinder / tamper. I was within my 5-day window, so I promptly contacted SCG and they happily shipped me a replacement. The second one just arrived, and it functions great. I intend on updating the review down the road, but my initial impressions are good. I am coming from a Jura S9 Classic (super-automatic) and wanted a bit more control over the beverages than what the Jura offered. The things that pointed me most to the Oracle were the stainless steel everything (boilers, conical grinder, porta-filter, exterior construction, etc). I also like being able to switch beans with the removable hopper (couldn't do this with the Jura). The milk frothing is really second to none when looking at home machines. We would very infrequently use our Jura frother because of the clean-up cycle afterward. Not an issue now.Things I don't like are the overall height of the machine. We can't get it under the cabinets, so it sits forward all the way to edge of our countertop. The height between the porta-filter and the drip tray isn't much and is non-adjustable (unless you get the naked porta-filter, that would buy you some additional room). As such, not all of our coffee cups fit. We have to pick and choose specific cups to drink coffee from now. Post-use clean up is more involved than the super-automatic was (a bit expected). I will say that the cleaning is a con; however, I do appreciate the ability to do so. The Jura this machine is replacing, couldn't be cleaned as thoroughly as this one (specifically brew group and grinder) and I appreciate that. So, overall my review is 4 stars. I only have about 10 coffees through the machine and the memory of my first one being dead-on-delivery is still sticking with me a bit. Once I have more time with the Oracle, I'll update my review....hope I can push it to a 5 star in the future.

Great Design, Great Coffee.....breaks down too often

I have had this machine for about two years. It makes great espresso and is easy to use. The problem is that the machine breaks. First it stopped making pressure at the portafilter (and made a weird noise while brewing). The result is that nothing came out of the portafilter. I sent it back to Breville and it was returned fixed (no charge) Now it is tripping the GFCI breaker. I called Brevillle Customer support and they asked me to return to them for repair. I understand that things break, but twice in two years? I usually make 1 cup per day and always maintain it according to Breville standards.

One Year On

I've now been using the Oracle for just over a year after finally ceding my old DeLongi to my sister-in-law (wife's little sister) and I have to say that if she wants this one ... well, she's not getting it. I debated for a few weeks about whether to go the superauto vs. semi-auto route, and I have to say that with this machine I am pleased with my decision. Did it take a little time to dial it in? Yes, but I'm a bitter of a tinkerer so I didn't worry much about that.As for drawbacks I can think of a couple, but they tend to balance out. First, my wife doesn't use the machine enough to have the process figured out - so I have to make coffee for her on the weekends when she opts for a latte over her usual tea - but that means that she and I aren't debating over the settings. I sometimes have issues with an uneven tamp from the machine, but that allows me to occasionally use the lovely tamper that a friend gave me a few years ago. It also takes a little longer to heat up than my old machine, but if I turn the machine on first thing in the morning it is ready by the time I have walked and fed the dogs. The only other thing is that it does require a bit more time and patience for cleaning, but the end results are worth the trouble. As for benefits, I have finally been able to dial in the settings better than I ever could with my old machine (to the point that a house guest copied down my settings so she could adjust her Oracle to match when she went home). I can have a true double shot without having to run the machine twice. I can easily see how many beans I still have in the hopper so I never run the grinder when empty (something that happened with my old machine once every month or two). I like that the hopper is also sealed a bit better than on some other machines.I love this machine. I hope it lasts as long as my old machine (which is over a decade old and still going). It appears to be well-constructed, so I have a high level of confidence that it will.

Oracle - Great Machine

I spent an insane amount of time trying to decide on my replacement of my old Saeco super auto. After 10 years it finally gave out. I wanted a little more involvement in the drink making process and a better taste than the super auto's produced. I watched video reviews, read articles and decided on the Oracle. I've had it now for a few weeks and have to say I'm totally in love with it. Gail's video on dialing it in made all the difference in the world and now I have consistent success in my 30 second shot pulls. I bang out mocha's (just add two pumps of choc syrup to the milk pitcher before frothing and stir up w/ spoon to mix) and they come out perfect with creamy milk and are better than the coffee shop at $6 / cup. Nailing the details of this machine was a simple effort and I felt totally at home on it after the first few days.If you love great coffee drinks and want to feel you had a hand in making it, this is the way to go and a great value in getting from Seattle Coffee Gear with the discount gift card which I used to get some cool iced coffee drink cups, measured shot glasses and a few other accessories that have come in handy.
