Deliciously sweet, this clean low-acid coffee is named not for its difficulty to brew, but for the challenge the Counter Culture coffee buyers face in sourcing just the right beans for this blend. Designed to remind you of a traditional Italian espresso, Big Trouble combines those chocolatey, nutty flavors loved by so many to create an amazing cup no matter how it is brewed- pour over, french press, espresso- choose your favorite!
Tasting Notes: Caramel, Nutty, Round
If I order this bag from you (or any other coffee) what sort of post-roasting date range can I expect? Espresso is best shortly after roasting (as you know) so I generally order direct from the roaster.
Best Answer:Hello! Generally, you'll receive your coffee around 5 business days after its roast date, often earlier if you are on the west coast. We run a roast to order program with our coffee partners, and order weekly (usually Monday), taking fresh-roasted stock by mid-week. Hope this helps!
I've tried many beans for my espresso machine - everything from Ritual, Cafe Vitta, Toby's, Stumptown, Blue Bottle, etc.. Anyway, I have a few faves and this immediately moved to the top of the list. Like the description says, it really does have such a clean flavor. It's not bitter and perfectly medium-bodied. I'm not familiar with all the coffee terminology but this is outstanding and will I keep this in constant rotation! (Posted on 9/28/2016)
Oh, wow.Review by Resonance
I've been trying different blends, figuring out what I like and what I don't. I definitely like this coffee.
It's a lighter roast, compared to some of the others I've tried, so it doesn't have the deep dark roasty notes that come with a deeply roasted coffee, and I'm perfectly OK with that. I like to taste the flavor of the beans more than how deeply they're roasted, and these are flavorful indeed. I brew in a Chemex, and the coffee's naturally light body and juicy acidity really shine through in the cup, along with being amazingly clean.
On tasting, I mentioned the juicy acidity and I meant it -- I never really understood what that term meant until I tried this coffee. After that, there are big, easy to love notes of caramel and nuts.
The coffee came packaged fresh with a roast date within a week of when I ordered it, and kept in an airtight container is still blooming like I just opened the bag. I seriously recommend Big Trouble. (Posted on 2/28/2016)
