Coffee Machines For Serving Guests

FAQs
Drip coffee makers let guests pour from a carafe, while superautomatic espresso machines prepare individual drinks with push-button controls. Semiautomatic espresso machines put you in charge of grinding, pulling shots, and steaming milk. Choose based on whether you prefer a self-serve setup or playing home barista.
Look for clearly labeled drink options, straightforward menus, and saved drink settings. For milk-based drinks, consider machines with automatic milk preparation. Keep a short guide nearby so guests know how to select a drink and adjust available settings.
Fill the water reservoir, check your coffee supply, and empty the drip tray and used-grounds container if your machine has them. For espresso, dial in your grinder beforehand and let the machine warm up according to its manual. Set out cups, spoons, and milk so everything is ready when coffee orders start.
A separate brewer lets you prepare decaf without changing the beans in your main machine. Some superautomatic espresso machines also include a ground-coffee bypass for individual servings made with preground decaf. Check the manual for bypass instructions, and label regular and decaf carafes clearly.
Empty used grounds, rinse the carafe or removable brew components as directed, and clean the drip tray. If you served milk drinks, clean the steam wand or milk system according to the manufacturer's instructions. Follow the machine's recommended schedule for deeper cleaning and descaling.
