What’s not to love! The lunar is hyper accurate and small enough to fit anywhere on pretty much any espresso drip tray.

I love the Lunar. It works perfectly. I love the setting where it auto tastes and times the shot from the first drop . It's easy to use and the rechargeable battery goes a long time before it needs recharging Measuring shots by weight is so much more reliable than eyeballing it.

I bought this for my coffee nerd son who is regional airline pilot, one of those guys in blue you see rolling what looks like carry on luggage through the airport with another small bag or two attached by a hook or strap. He goes out on 4 day trips to medium size towns staying in 3-star hotels with some drip coffee makers in the rooms and Starbux coffee bags. So he uses those pots to heat water for his coffee pre-ground at home, AeroPress and Lunar scale for measure (remember, he is a nerd) and somehow jams all that into his bag. He just loves this scale. He's had it over a month and has yet to recharge the battery. He uses the app to time his pour and it is a bit easier to read, so this is just a perfect solution for him. As a brand new barista, the scale really helps me dial in the consistency. It takes to make good espresso.

Insanely accurate scale

I have to say, I had a bit of a rough start with this scale. Upon receiving it, I immediately started to do a firmware update and it bricked in the middle of the update. I emailed Acaia support and they asked all the usual questions that can be found on their website. They can only be contacted via email, so the process dragged out a few days. On a Wednesday, they sent me a shipping label via email to return my bricked scale, which I did within the hour of receiving. The replacement scale did not ship until the following Monday and took 5 days to arrive.... so from my initial order until I had a functioning scale was around 2 weeks. In the process I contacted Seattle Coffee and after a day or so they replied and just directed me to Acaia.All the above was pretty negative. With that said, the working scale is beautiful. It is very slim, so works well with my tight spaced Linea Micra. I like that I can disable all modes but mode 5, which auto tares, then beeps and starts counting after the auto tare is complete, which takes a second or less. The beep is when I pull my espresso machine paddle and so timing and weighing is extremely easy, efficient and seamless. It also tracks live and documents water flow rate as the cup fills. For my favorite bean I want a 1.5 to 1.6 gps flow rate and this scale clearly indicates that. The aluminum materials and rubber cover are all high quality. It is USB-C charged and supposedly needs charged only once a month. As long as the scale is working, it is a beautiful scale to have.

You have to be pretty accurate with touching the buttons which are difficult to see and very small in terms of touch sensitivity. Have had numerous mis-cues in starting and stopping functions. Frustrating given high price. If they painted the buttons a different color or made them larger would help a lot. Not much better than a $30 scale.

Overall, this scale works great! PROS: It is precise and its programmed modes do what you expect them to do. The Lunar is also more reliable. Other scales I used in the past are unreliable when you put them under the portafilter for starting a coffee extraction. The Lunar doesn't do this.CONS: the on/off switch is too sensitive. As such, you often need to go reselect your operative mode. Also, when you try to clean the scale with a wet towel , I find the Lunar going on and off and switching operative modes. Adding a dedicated on/off switch that works independently from the selection mode switch will be a significant value added for the Lunar. Last, I find the Lunar mobile phone apps to be too clunky. The Bluetooth paring switches on and off frequently, and templates require too much info to crate a log of your coffee extractions, but I think it is interesting to see the flow rate graph of your coffee extraction if you are willing to do the Bluetooth paring.

Best scale out there.Fast, accurate, consistent.Beautifully made, easily scratched but strong enough it doesn't matter( it's a tool after all).Works with LM portafilters without the extra stand ( if you turn mat upside down to support arm)

Pricey, but highly accurate, compact, and blue tooth compatible.

The pinnacle of coffee scale tech. You don't really need it, but you didn't need that 3000 dollar coffee maker either.

Awesome little scale. Works like a champ

This Acaia Lunar is the standard you see in use in every youtube video. I was trying to stay basic and didn't think I'd need this scale as a beginner espresso maker. But even as a learner the Lunar has lots of advantages for developing your skills and dialing in. Over time, I'll explore some of it's more advanced timing/measuring/flow-rate modes, along with app interface for seeing the process. But in the meantime what surprised me is how easy it is to use for basic tasks. Much prefer it for all basic tasks due to the easy touch, sensitive, press buttons, the easy tare function, the small footprint for convenience, the overall build quality and exactly right design.

I am going to buy one of these in a few minutes, as soon as I write this review, but there is something I read in the manual (the "fine print") that everyone must absolutely be aware of: this scale does not support fast charging. The manual says, "*Please note: Using a ?fast-charging? charging block or charging hub (a charging block/hub delivering over 5v at 1A) could damage your Acaia scale?s circuit board." PAY ATTENTION!! ALL IT TAKES IS ONE TIME TO KILL THIS VERY EXPENSIVE SCALE!! This is extremely important because mere 1A USB chargers are becoming increasingly rare, and the charging rate is usually printed in very tiny letters somewhere on the charger. Some laptops have high speed chargers as well. (I was wondering why the charging time is as long as 2 hours.) I feel that at this price point the 1A charger restriction is antiquated. For comparison my ridiculously anachronistic Motorola moto g6 4 yo phone does support fast charging.

I could not be more pleased.However, the user manual is not helpful in explaining how to access ALL menus items and how to use them,Perhaps, SCG, will make an in-depthhow-to video.

Great scale. Works as intended. I rarely use more than the scale but it has nice timer functions as well (in case your espresso machine doesn?t have that). The battery life seems to be good. Lasted about three weeks making 10 shots a day at home. Recharges easy but you will need to have a wall plug from your smartphone.

An amazingly accurate and intuitive technical instrument built for espresso baristas to seamlessly fit into their routine. I go from weighing the ground coffee in the portafilter to auto raring and accurately weighing and simultaneously timing the shot of espresso in the cup. It amazes me how it always detects the first drop of espresso and to start the timer. One of the most important tools for dialing in your espresso grinder. Could not imagine brewing espresso without it.

It hurt to pay this for a scale, which, as with all other items once I started making espresso, managed to shock/dismay/confuse with the price tag. But this scale is wonderful in unexplainable ways. I don't use all the settings, but for what I need it for (time + tare out for grounds and espresso shots) it made everything easier and taste better than when I used an old scale and my brain to count time. Pretty small, which works for my coffee purposes, but is not so handy to use for diverse weighing needs in the kitchen.

This is a replacement to an Acaia I've had for 7 years that started to get increasingly wonky!I am using this with my Decent De+1xl and it works flawlessly.

Great scale. Pricey but very fast and responsive and very small. Perfect for setting in the espresso drip tray and measuring coffee before grinding.
