Overview

Diablo Blend by local favorite Caffe Ladro may sound scary and intimidating, the "Devil" Blend, but if you like it big and bold then this is your new brew. If you are transitioning from large commercial coffee conglomerates who notoriously burn their beans then this carefully prepared Dark Roast is a great selection.

Roast Level: Dark
Region: Multi-Region (Varies)

When a brand-new coffee roaster opens up right next door to Starbucks, well… you know it’s going to be good. That’s what happened when Caffe Ladro opened up its first shop in 1994 on Upper Queen Anne in Seattle, right next door to Starbucks. To be fair, it’s a quintessential Seattle tale; Everyone knows there’s room for more than one great coffee shop in the Coffee Capital. Caffe Ladro—now a Seattle institution which means “coffee thief”—has always had to work twice as hard to produce quality coffee that appealed to the masses and beat out its next-door neighbor. These days, Caffe Ladro has 15 locations in Seattle and the surrounding region.

Fantastic

Great flavor. Dark but not oily and over-roasted. I will get more. Some of the best coffee I've ever bought.

Like it, but?

This is a nice dark and rich coffee, but to me it has a bitter after taste, so I will not be ordering it again. I?ll try some of the other dark roasts instead.

Rich, dark, but not bitter!

It's one of my favorites! A rich dark blend without the bitterness. I highly recommend it.

Now this is what dark coffee should be

Seems like I'm always in search of good dark bean coffee bean or a holy grail espresso bean. As respects the dark coffee bean, they tend to either sounding darker than they are (overly advertsied as dark and bold, but taste like diluted coffee) or like someone left the roaster on way too long (burnt). This Ladro Diablo is neither. It's a really nice, well roasted dark bean that produces a deep, dark, but balanced cup of coffee. I'll certainly be back for more.

It makes me want to get out of bed earlier to make coffee

I cringe when exposed to tobacco smoke, so I was a bit anxious when the description described tobacco leaf overtones. Another review was critical of Diablo blend for this reason. I prefer a darker roasted coffee and took a chance. I thoroughly enjoy this coffee and consider it a gift to me to start my day.Living on the east coast I was a little concerned about freshness. No concerns here; ordered late on 3/30 and received on 4/2 with a roast date of 3/23. Very nice bloom using the pourover method.

No Comparison - the best

I didn't think I can tell the difference between Diablo and other coffee, but after I drank Diablo, the other coffee does not quite taste as good.

Best tasting coffee

After you tasted the Diablo you won't want to drink any other coffee. It has the most creamy, smooth, and tasty coffee you can buy.I love it.

Like licking an ashtray

When they say notes of tobacco they greatly underestimate its punch. After drinking several cups, I could not get the flavor out of my mouth for the entire day. It felt like I had smoked a pack of cigarettes for breakfast. If you are a nonsmoker, this blend is NOT for you. After one brew, my beans found their way into the garbage can.Caution: For smokers only!!

I look forward to having my coffee in the morning

I received Ladro Diablo whole beans as a lovely gift from Seattle Coffee Gear when I ordered my Frieling French Press and Baratza Preciso Burr Grinder. Oh my, is this coffee delicious using my new equipment. I savor every sip. I will be ordering more in the future.

Great for some

I much prefer Kickapoo to these. I found the shots quite bitter even when properly temperature surfing and pulling a 24-27 (I prefer 27). It's alright and I think I would have loved it via french press.

Free gift with my purchase from SCG

As soon as I received my Frieling French Press and Baratza Preciso Grinder, I brewed up a pot of coffee using the Diablo Blend from Ladro. I could taste all three notes, tobacco leaf being the last. This coffee has a smooth, bold flavor that is pleasing to my palate.Next month I will be vacationing in Washington with plans of visiting SCG and Ladro Coffee Cafe to purchase more of their coffee. Thanks for the delicious gift!

Got it free with espresso machine.

Very good, bold, but smooth flavor. I got this free with my CC1 machine and am very pleased. I used it to practice pulling shots on my new machine and really enjoyed the flavor. I really dislike "nutty" notes in my espresso and this was free of them. I love a dark roast with this much restraint. I honestly would have pegged it as an extra dark roast if I hadn't been told it was. The tobacco note is delicious to my palate! Goes great with milk! I wouldn't have purchased it on my own so I'm glad I got it as a gift. Will repurchase!

I don’t have a grinder do you sell ground coffees?

Patrick C.

We do not sell specialty coffee ground, however we do sell ground packages of Italian coffees from roasters like LavAzza.
