Frequently Asked Questions

Can I program a dose on the Eureka Mignon Notte?

No. The Notte is manual — press your portafilter against the switch and it grinds as long as you hold it. For programmed doses, see the Mignon Specialita (timed) or Libra (by weight).

How does the Notte compare to the Mignon Zero?

The Notte has 50mm burrs and a traditional 5.5 oz hopper and grinds straight into your portafilter. The Zero is a single-dose grinder with 55mm burrs and a bellows hopper that grinds into a dosing cup.

Is the Mignon Notte good for beginners?

Yes — it's rated Beginner on our site. Stepless adjustment and a simple manual workflow make it an easy first espresso grinder.

Can the Notte grind for drip coffee?

It's built for espresso. Pair it with a brew grinder or choose an all-purpose grinder for drip.

Can I clean the Notte without losing my grind setting?

Yes. Eureka's bottom-burr adjustment lets you remove the burrs for cleaning without changing your setting.

Exactly what I want in a grinder

Outstanding grinder. No frills: everything I want in a grinder and nothing that I don't. There's no timers to mess around with: I just weigh my beans and load them up and hold the button till everything's ground. The grind speed is pretty quick, noise levels are well within the acceptable range, grind quality is consistent, low retention, and the grind is nearly infinitely adjustable with the no click dial. Best of all, the whole thing is made of metal: no cheap plastic bits in the case or mechanisms so it's very easy to disassemble, clean, and maintain. Burrs are easy to replace if needed. Includes a fork to hold a portafilter during filling, but I leave it off and just use a dosing cup for least mess. The hopper is easy to wash, but a good mod is to remove the stock hopper and add a bellows hopper so you can blow out the extra grinds and quickly switch between beans. I'm sure I'll be using this grinder for many, many years to come.

Good Value for the Money

Great grinder for the money.Pros: excellent grind quality at the finer settings; stepless grinder adjustment allows you to dial in the perfect consistency.Cons: portafilter holder is too low to engage the dispenser button; fixed height; unable to adjust.

A Manuale by any other name...

I've had this grinder for a couple months and my overall impression is it makes a fine replacement for my Rocky doserless. I loved my Rocky, but it just stopped working one day after 14 years of service. I single dose all my shots. In researching contemporary espresso grinders I noticed that specialized dedicated "single dose" grinders have become fashionable. For my requirements this no frills Eureka does everything I need it to, namely produce an easily repeatable consistent espresso grind for my Silvia. That said I do like that this grinder has a mechanism for closing off the bean chute, which I use to contain the "popcorning" that can occur at the end of a grind. Overall build quality and performance is good. The burrs are identical in size to the Rocky. The grind from the Eureka is noticeably less clumpy than the Rocky, probably the greatest advantage the Eureka has over the Rocky. Retention also appears to be less of an issue with the Eureka. Compared to the Rocky, I believe there's a tiny bit more plastic on this Eureka, however the cumulative overall of fit, finish, and form of the Eureka probably gets the edge over the Rocky (at least over my 14 year old version). The Eureka's stepless dial will also be a plus to many, although imho that's another overblown point among espresso geeks. Bottom line is I think the Manuale in particular is a very good value at under $350. The Rocky is around $400. If that's close to your target spend, either is hard to beat.

Some oddities

Got a great deal on this Notte at SCG open box and am overall very happy. This grinder is very heavy and feels of super quality. The grinds seems good consistency and overall I like this grinder. I do however have a few somewhat minor gripes. First the hopper. It feels like cheap plastic and it has no seal on the lid to help keep the beans fresh. Also the hopper?s base slide guard thingy (which allow for easy removal of beans) is very clunky. It slides very hard and when open it just awkwardly hangs loose. Luckily I don?t have to deal with this hopper system since I am single dosing and found an excellent single dose hopper and bellow (for zero retention) with a unique anti-popcorning weight thingy on Etsy.Secondly, there is no included drip tray. I found that odd and thus had to resort once again to Etsy. I got a 3D printed one, which was cheap enough, but the 3D printed material on this item is super cheap and doesn?t feel like it will last long at all. Third, and a very minor gripe, there is no indicator that the grinder is powered on. There is only an on/off switch on the side (near the back too) so easy to just forget and leave this grinder powered on all the time. Not sure if that is a problem or not. I do try to remember to turn off when not in use.

Great Grinder for the $$$

Love Love Love my Notte. A piece of coffee machinery shouldn?t be this sexy on my counter, but it just is.

Fantastic!

I purchased this grinder through Seattle Coffee Gear?s Amazon store. First let?s discuss shipping, SCG shipped my order the same day that I purchased the grinder. Very impressive SCG!Now, let?s move on to the grinder. In three words, I LOVE IT! I spent a little time dialing it in. However, the grinds are consistent and I find the grinder to be so easy to use. I?m pretty good at eyeballing my dose, but I do weigh my portafilter as I go. I like the fact that as soon as I stop pressing the button, the grinding stops. I can the level out the grinds in the basket. This grinder is built like a tank. Very robust build quality. According to the user?s manual, I will need to look at replacing the burrs after 250kg of coffee being ground. That will take me 20 plus years! Thank you SCG!

Love it...use it every day.

I've had my Notte for a month and I gotta be honest...I love it. It's exactly what I need. I know you can spend hundreds more for timers and displays...but why? I single dose because I like alternating what kind of coffee I drink, so the hopper is always empty anyway, and weighing grinds takes all of 6 seconds. After a few weeks of research, the Notte made the most sense. For half the price I'm sacrificing a timer and a metal portafilter holder.Plus, my girlfriend likes flavored drip in the Chemex, and it's very easy to dial it out to a coarser grind, and then get right back to where I was dialed into whatever espresso I'm using. It doesn't have the bells and whistles as the other models, but for this price you're getting a great grinder. Couldn't recommend it more.

Awesome grinder at an unbeatable price

For the price it is an amazing piece of machinery. Great and consistent grinds, easy to clean, operate and maintain. Overall, you will not find a better grinder for the price. I am extremely happy with it as my third grinder.

Great little machine. No fancy electronics, easy to use. And not that loud ... about the same as my vario and quieter than my old delonghi.

few things important

It's an absolutely good machine. Although I know Filtro can also make good espresso, I still decide to spend little more for the special espresso burr in Notte. Here is my pros and cons:Pros:It is super quiet already. I don't feel any necessity to purchase a quieter version. The grind quality is absolutely amazing. It is made in Italy. Overall nice looking.Cons:The bean hopper has a tight lid. Sometimes it needs me a little effort to open it.This machine doesn't have any package. It comes in the delivery box with foams. I like to collect coffee gear's package so it is something I dislike. You can get the package in other expensive Eureka modes but not Notte.

Everything you need, nothing you don’t!

Professional quality at a great price point. No fancy bells and whistles, just a nice manual setup that grinds quickly, quietly, consistently, and clump-free. The taste and consistency of my espresso and milk drinks increased significantly after upgrading to this grinder.

Simple and professional quality.

I am impressed with this new eureka notte, is very simple and very well build. Most of the grinder is metal just a little parts in plastic. In the first time using will be a little challenge to find the right set up with the step-less grind. But after I get the grind size for me, is perfect and solid. For sure will last forever. I highly recommend for who want professional quality and consistency in home without expend a lot money, I am using this grinder with a GAGGIA CLASSIC PRO, and is pairing perfect, i think this grind you can use even for more expensive machines like rocket. I really liked this product. Thanks a lot for SSG to have this to sell.

Simply perfect

Eureka Mignon Notte (Manuale) is a well built grinder.- Build: Almost all metal construction besides bean hopper and portafilter fork.(I plan to remove the fork and use a dosing cup instead since holding and pushing the grind botton with portafilter while getting the ground coffee distributed in portafilter is quite tricky in my opinion)- Size: Much compact and small footprint than I imagined.- Noise: Not bad. From video demo I've watched, Sette series are far louder.- Grind: Grind quality is very nice. Very consistent and fluffy. I'm glad I chose flat burr.- Espresso machine: I got Gaggia Classic Pro and been about 3weeks since I started using and only about a week since I got this grinder. Still dialing in but having a quick consistent grinder is very very worth the value. Visually pleasing too.

We had been searching for a new espresso grinder ever since our Barista Express grinder bit the dust and we are so happy with the purchase! So easy to set up and easy to use! We use it every day and are happy with its quality and consistency.

It’s great to have freshly ground coffee! For our purposes, it’s easy to use and grinds to the consistency we need for our Rancilio Silvia machine

Eureka Mignon Notte espresso grinder.

I've owned a Eureka Mignon Notte for over 5 years, and I believe it remains the best value for money of any espresso grinder on the market. The Notte needs a bit of massaging to bring it up to snuff, but the minor effort required to improve the Notte to the level of grinders costing far more isn't difficult, and it's well worth the effort.First off, I'm not criticizing only this grinder for the following mistake; most grinder manufacturers do the same, but why would anyone fill a grinder hopper full for home use? The beans are exposed to light and oxygen, which causes them to oxidize and lose the flavor you've paid for well before you use all of the beans. Replace the factory hopper with one that holds no more beans than required for your preferred doppio. I found a printed, 24-26 grams hopper on Etsy for $40.00. Carefully (it's plexiglass) cut out the openings of the factory hopper to the dimensions of the top and bottom of the printed hopper, fill the factory hopper with any kind of beans, fit the small hopper into the factory hopper, seal the contact points up with carefully applied super-glue, and insert the assembly into the top of the grinder. Looks good, and no stale beans.I was aware this grinder wasn't as consistent as more expensive machines, so I found an excellent tutorial on YouTube that showed how to calibrate the flat grinder burrs for a more precise, consistent grind. I used small strips of aluminum foil, folded in half as shims, and held in place with a dab of olive oil under the burrs to adjust the burrs to a near-perfect setting. You need a black dry-erase marker to measure the settings... watch the YouTube video, and you'll understand.I was also aware that the retention rate is a bit high, so I tried various gadgets to blow out the coffee left behind after the grind. Don't waste your time with that. Grind the beans, then put your mouth over the opening of the small hopper, trigger the grinder switch again, and puff sharply into it. Retention problem solved. It's easier done than explained.Once a year, or so, I take off the top of the grinder, clean the burrs and surrounding area with a small, stiff brush, and blow out the interior of the grinder with a serious electric air gun.The burr adjustment remains stable after 5 years. One of these days, I'll check the burr calibration again... one of these days.

A bit messy but fun!

I am having fun with single dosing. The manual grind setting has to be adjusted each time I put a new batch of coffee in the hopper. I first weighed my coffee and now count in my head how long to grind. The two things I do not like are that when not using how quiet it is, as I forget to turn it off, and the grinds spew all over the place. I have it on a tray, but it isn't big enough, and I don't have a lot of counter space for a bigger tray.
