One of the problems I have with the v2 steaming wand is that the knob has to turn so far to be fully opened, over two full rotations. When I'm steaming small quantities of milk (130mL or so), it's a really significant fraction of the total steaming time, and in the meantime my "pitcher hand" is unstable. From what I've seen in videos, it seems like the v3 only takes a half turn or so to be fully engaged; is that true?
Rumbleroar on Jan 1, 2016
Best Answer: Not true. V3 steaming wand works the same as V1, V2. With practice, you should be able to get the froth you want. For me, I start about 1/4" from bottom of pitcher and leave it there until I feel heat. Then I gradually move up until I reach just below the top of the milk. As it starts to bubble I move the pitcher down. ONE MORE THING: don't be cheap with the amount of milk you need 1/2 pitcher for the job.

Is this wand a 'cool touch' wand? Is the outer surface heat insulated in any way?
A shopper on Mar 27, 2016
Best Answer: The wand is solid metal and will get quite hot to the touch because steam is moving through it.
There is a small amount of insulation through the rubber flex in the middle, but, in general, I
would not touch it.

I replaced the steam want on my gaggia classic to the one hole rancillio silvia steam wand. Can that be upgraded to this one?
Rambert S on Nov 28, 2016
Best Answer: Yes, many people have done this if you search the web you can find out how. I also replaced the leaky steam valve on the Gaggia Classic with this one, however, I had to make the adapter fittings to get it to work.

Hi, I have a V2 and looking to upgrade. Can you tell me how long the wand would be once installed? From the tip at the bottom up to the unit? It looks like the tip reaches almost down to the tray so I can measure myself but want to make sure it reaches that far actually. thanks
George B on Dec 19, 2015
Best Answer: From the machine to the tip the wand is 5.75 inches long. When pointed all the way down towards the drip tray it is about .25-.5 inches away from the drip tray.

Excellent upgrade for 15 year old V1 machine. One small caveat...Review by Cybermock
This was a great upgrade for my 15 year old machine. A couple things to keep in mind for those who have a V1 machine like I do. First, the wand is MUCH bigger; longer, heavier metal and wider steam tube. This is great news in that it allows you to steam much, much faster. The only problem I experienced was that it is SO big that it is impossible to fit into the slot at the 5:00 minute mark in the video. The connection from the brass piece to the wand is WAY too tight to remove by hand, at least for me. However, if you notice in the video there is one more piece of your machine casing on the very back (You can see it at the 5:00 minute mark--the two small holes and two screws). If you put a screwdriver through the holes and loosen or remove those screws you can pull the plate back far enough to slide the the brass fitting through the hole. Then just re insert the screws. Very easy fix. Follow the rest of the directions to a T and it was perfect upon the first steaming. (Posted on 8/31/2017)
The Good with the BadReview by Marshall
Unfortunately, I cannot give this product 5 stars. It turns out that new steamer knob is not quite up to the quality of the old style knob. Mine broke relatively quickly, so the old one is back and still going strong.

The steam wand the best value. It is a real, functional improvement over the old one. Had a little challenge installing it. I absolutely love it! (Posted on 7/21/2015)
Good videoReview by Alan
Upgrade is very easy to do. The only thing the video does not mention is that you will probably need two wrenches to take the steam wand off the fitting prior to installation. Rancilio should furnish the kit with the wand off the fitting or not tighten it so much since you will need to take it off before installing. (Posted on 7/12/2015)
Service and merchandise were excellentReview by Fasteddie
The kit changed my steaming time from 4 to 5 minutes to just under 2 minutes. The results were stupendous. Thanks for your very courteous service!!!!! (Posted on 3/3/2013)
Nice upgradeReview by GhostBear
Expensive, but a nice upgrade, old V2 knob was broken, so I got the new valve steam wand and knob.

The video was very helpful in the retrofit.

Fast shipping, thanks guys :)

Great upgrade and the video made this an easy upgradeReview by Jim
Great replacement to the old steam wand and knob. I was a little apprehensive, but the video made this a twenty minute process with a fantastic outcome! (Posted on 2/17/2013)
A very nice upgradeReview by Kevin
While it is a bit pricey, it's a nice upgrade. Installation was easy, and the video was very useful. I got my kit in two days (way over on the east coast) even after selecting free shipping (your results may vary, I probably was a bit lucky) (Posted on 12/4/2012)
