Affogato Go: Summer's Easiest Excuse for Dessert

Affogato Go: Brew It, Grab It, Enjoy It

Affogato Go is the two-ingredient espresso treat that takes minutes to make and doesn't ask you to stay inside to enjoy it. Brew espresso straight into a mini pint of ice cream, grab a spoon, and head out to catch the summer evening. It's proof that dessert and your coffee habit were always meant to team up.

Why We Love This Recipe

This is the affogato with zero fuss attached. No bowls, no extra dishes, just espresso brewed directly into the ice cream container it came in. The hot-meets-cold moment is still just as good, it's just built for wherever you're headed next, whether that's the porch, the park, or a summer evening hang with a friend.

What You'll Need

  • 1 mini pint of ice cream (chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla), 2-4 oz
  • 2 oz espresso

How to Make It

  1. Pick your flavor. Grab a mini pint of ice cream in chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla, whatever you're in the mood for.
  2. Pull your shot. Brew 2 oz of espresso directly into the ice cream container.
  3. Grab a spoon and go. Head outside and enjoy while the espresso is still warm and the ice cream is just starting to melt into it.

Pro Tips

  • Brew it fresh, then bounce. This recipe is built for good timing, brew your espresso right before you head out so it's still hot when the ice cream starts to soften. We recommend pulling your shot on the LELIT Mara X3 for a rich, consistent espresso every time, even when you're brewing and heading out the door.
  • Let it melt a little. Give it thirty seconds before your first bite. That's when the espresso starts pooling into the ice cream and the whole thing gets good.
  • Make it a two-person moment. Brew two at once and bring a friend, this one's built for sharing a summer evening, not just a solo treat.
  • Mini pints are the move. Stick with the 2-4 oz size so the ratio of espresso to ice cream stays balanced and nothing gets soupy before you're out the door.

What Does It Taste Like?

The first bite is cold and creamy, then the espresso hits right behind it, warm, a little bitter, and rich enough to cut through the sweetness. As it sits, the espresso melts into the ice cream and turns into this soft, coffee-swirled texture that's somewhere between a milkshake and a melting sundae. Chocolate leans into the espresso's bitterness, strawberry plays it sweet and fruity against the coffee, and vanilla keeps it classic, letting the espresso take the lead. However you take it, the finish is smooth, a little rich, and gone way too fast.
