The Ultimate Candy Bar Mocha: No Tricks, All Treat

Our Ultimate Candy Bar Mocha turns your Halloween candy haul into a café-worthy iced coffee you'll never find at the drive-through. We pull hot espresso right over a Twix bar and whisk it into a glossy chocolate base, then pour it over cold milk and pile on whipped cream, caramel, and candy crumbles. Every sip tastes like rich cocoa, buttery caramel, and bold espresso with a little cookie crunch on top. Watch us make it below, then tell us: which candy bar are you melting first?

Why We Love This Recipe

The candy bar does all the heavy lifting here. Hot espresso melts the chocolate and caramel into a silky mocha base in seconds, so there's no need to make a sauce from scratch. It's a smarter way to put that candy haul to work, and we promise nobody will notice a few bars went missing.

What You'll Need

  • 1 full-size Twix: 1 bar to melt, 1 bar for topping
  • 1 tbsp chocolate sauce
  • 2 oz espresso (a double shot)
  • 6 oz milk of choice
  • Ice
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Caramel sauce, for drizzling
  • 1 Twix bar, chopped, for topping

How to Make It

  1. Break it down. Break 1 full-size Twix bar into pieces and drop them into a heatproof mug or bowl with 1 tbsp of chocolate sauce.
  2. Pull the shot. Pull a hot double shot of espresso and pour it directly over the candy bar pieces.
  3. Whisk like you mean it. Whisk right away while the espresso is still piping hot, until the candy melts into a glossy, smooth chocolate-espresso base.
  4. Ice, ice, baby. Fill a glass with ice and pour in 6 oz of your milk of choice.
  5. Make it a mocha. Pour the candy bar espresso over the milk and watch it swirl its way down.
  6. Go all out. Top with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce, and a generous sprinkle of chopped Twix.

Pro Tips

  • Speed is your secret weapon. The hotter the espresso, the smoother the melt, so have your candy ready before you pull the shot. We recommend Breville Oracle Dual Boiler Espresso Machine for a consistent, piping hot double shot every time.
  • Raid the candy bowl. Twix is our pick, but any chocolate candy bar works here. Peanut butter cups and caramel nougat bars are especially delicious.
  • Strain for extra silky. The cookie layer can leave a few crumbs behind. If you want a perfectly smooth sip, pour the base through a small mesh strainer before adding it to your milk.
  • Craving it hot? Skip the ice and top your candy bar base with 6 oz of steamed milk instead. We love LELIT Mara X3 Espresso Machine for silky, café-style microfoam.

What Does It Taste Like?

The first sip is cold, creamy, and seriously chocolatey, with buttery caramel coming through right behind it. The espresso keeps all that sweetness in check, adding a roasty depth that makes it taste like a real coffee drink and not just melted candy. Whipped cream softens every sip, while the chopped Twix on top brings a crunchy, cookie-like finish. It's like eating your favorite candy bar and drinking a mocha at the same time, and we're not mad about it.
