Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Eureka Mignon Zero metal or plastic?

It has a metal body with some plastic parts, such as the hopper and dosing cup. It's handmade in Milan.

How does single dosing work on the Mignon Zero?

Weigh your beans (up to 45g), add them to the hopper and grind into the included dosing cup. A few pumps of the bellows hopper push out retained grounds, then flip the cup into your portafilter.

Can the Mignon Zero grind for pour over?

It's optimized for espresso, but its 45g capacity can handle the occasional pour over. If pour over is your main brew, a brew grinder or all-purpose grinder is a better fit.

How is the Zero different from the Mignon Notte?

The Zero is a single-dose grinder with 55mm burrs and a bellows hopper. The Notte has 50mm burrs, a 5.5 oz hopper and press-and-hold dosing into the portafilter.

What's the warranty?

1 year from Seattle Coffee Gear.

Customers praised this espresso grinder for being "quiet, consistent, and zero retention." Many noted it's a significant upgrade that produces excellent grind quality. While shoppers love the solid construction and value, some mentioned cleaning requirements and difficulty tracking grind settings without an aftermarket dial.

Pour house for both espresso and pour over

Top quality grinder after about 1lb of beans break in period it's very consistent and predictable. This is considered an espresso only grinder but it makes some of the best v60 pour I've had for single origins . Great heavy body and clarity balanced taste through whole cup since it has espresso first burrs I find it a great balance leaning on a heavier body cup vs a tea like high clarity brew if you went with a pour over dedicated flat burr 100% needs the aro dial upgrade I got it first day , makes for switching to pour over and back to espresso basically instant and precise . Easy to clean highly recommended this grinder ,Retention is >1g it's not perfect but I don't have issues with switching beans back to back

Silence is golden

The grinder built into my Breville barista express was going bad so instead of throwing the whole thing out I purchased the Eureka. First time I plugged it in and turned it on it was so quiet I wasn't sure it was working. The Zero's stepless adjustment gives me the ability to dial in beans I couldn't get right previously. Great grinder I'm happy I purchased.

Great Grinder. Inaccurate Photos.

Great grinder so far. Bellows works well - minimal retention. SCG shipped quickly. Do be aware, the color scheme is different. The grinder I received does not have chrome accents, rather matte black. I'm not sure if this is a SCG exclusive or if Eureka has changed the design. It'd be good if SCG and/or Eureka updated their product pictures.

Very good grinder!

I have been very happy with this grinder. It has very little retention, it's quiet, and aesthetically I find it quite pleasing, both to look at and to use. I took off one star for the typical Eureka adjustment knob, which makes changing grind sizes pretty challenging, since you don't have an easy way of going back to where you started. I got an Etsy add-on which addresses this issue, but I wish it were unnecessary.

Superb machine, huge upgrade, great pairing with Gaggia Classic

Upgraded to the Mignon Zero from a Rancilio Rocky (doser), and am so happy I did!I was on the fence for a while about an upgrade as it is not a cheap one. Mostly I wanted a lower (in this case pretty much zero) retention grinder. I love everything about this grinder: it really provides about zero retention (with a few forceful blows from the bellow), it is so much quieter and it's sound is pleasant. I also love the look of this machine (so much nicer looking than the niche IMO, and I bought a Weck Wood lid on Amazon and that fits perfectly over the bellows for a more custom look a bit like the Oro). The super easy stepless micro adjustments are also huge as an upgrade. I have embraced the single dose way, and pre-weigh my coffee now and have it in vials ready to go in the morning. Couldn't be happier with the choice. And as one can read everywhere, spend more on your grinder than on your espresso machine, and I would say they are right indeed.

Night and day from my old burr grinder

Very very nice grinder. I had a baratza virtuoso grinder before this. After a lot of tinkering, I was able to make the virtuoso grind fine enough for espresso. Then, I got the Eureka Mignon. Total game changer! Significantly quieter when grinding, much more precise dials for grinding size, and the bellows help get any stuck grounds out of the machine. I would totally recommend buying this grinder for espresso.

Awesome sturdy grinder so far

I've had it for a few weeks so far and it has significantly speed up my process of making espressos. I'm a novice in learning how to make espressos. A little confusing with dialing the grind size and still figuring out for various coffee beans. But so far I'm loving it. Not loud at all. Grinds beans with ease. Hopefully it lasts a very long time. Thanks!

Excellent grinder purchase!

Loving my new Eurela Mignonette Zero grinder! It's so quiet that coffee can be ground while people are talking! Grinds faster and WAY quieter than my 10-year old Eureka Mignonette. Love the cup that catches the grind! And my coffee seems to taste fuller/better!Set-up instructions were a bit challenging, especially since the pictures and the English instructions are several pages apart! And still pondering the instruction for setting the roast level - no instructions or pictures for that! Excellently packaged and shipped - no damage whatsoever! Thank you, SCG for your fine service!

Course grind

Simply does not grind fine enough for espresso. The best I could get, even pushing the grinder to hear the burrs up against, was 19grms in 20 seconds. Result: a bitter coffee. I tried at least a haf dozen roasters all with more or less the same result. Very disappointed.

Grinds well and is quiet. Only issues I have are some coffee ground dust will spill on the sides and away from the cup so you have to clean up a every use. Also if you are someone who like going between grind sizes (espresso then pour over the next) the dial alone goes you no context where you are as it takes mulitple rotation to get from one end to another. I had to buy an etsy dial for this machine to know if I’m in espresso or pour over range. If you buy said dial then its a wonderful experice.

Edit: everything above I wrote is true. I am bringing this down to three stars because I have to clean out this grinder every week because it builds up with coffee residue. Twice now I’ve been caught in the morning, trying to make a coffee and the grinder not working becauae it needs to be cleaned

Edit 2: after speaking with the customer support team, they told me to try and turn on the grinder before adjusting the grind size. It’s been a few weeks and I have not had a jam yet.

Fantastic grinder for the price. Solid metal construction. Very quiet. Stepless adjustment provides ability to dial in espesso grinds perfectly. Baffle allows you to push air through and clear out any grinds that dont come out automatically. Making some incredible lattes over here. For anybody it helps, i use the 5-6 grind setting on freshly roasted beans for a breville bambino in a single wall basket.

I love this machine!!!
Admittedly, I am just beginning to dabble in products beyond entry-level consumer (my old grinder was the Breville Smart Grinder). So I can’t compare to prosumer-level products from personal experience. But what I can say is this is a HUGE step up from what I had been using. I love how quiet it is (clutch for a house with toddlers that are sleeping), and the grind quality is excellent. Having this grinder has improved the espresso coming out of my Breville Bambino Plus! And for the price…man. Tough to beat. If you’re looking for something beyond the consumer-level grade products, this is a great place to start! Highly recommend!!

Game changer for my coffee. I had a cuisinart "burr" grinder it was awful. This is 100000% worth the upgrade and it's SO unbelievably quiet. I can literally grind while my wife sleeps in the other room. Lots of retention, but if you smack the bellow a few times you lose basically nothing. Maybe 0.1 grams at most. Overall love it and it feels very cery solid. 100% would recommend the aro dial upgrade though. Otherwise its pretty impossible to repeat grind settings when switching brew methods.

Very quiet compared to my virtuoso. Not as difficult as some reviews state about going from espresso to drip it's really just a turn or two. Happy with purchase.

excellent, maybe too quiet, grinder

I bought this Eureka Mignon Zero to replace my Baratza Sette 30 which died, so my review is largely a comparison of the two. I did not really want a dosing grinder, but the other features of the Zero sold me and I'm glad I got it. The extra work of weighing out the separate doses is a nuisance, but otherwise everything about this grinder is better that the Baratza. It's quieter, smaller, and produces a more consistent and fluffier powdered grind. Operation is simple and straight-forward. There is absolutely no mess around it when I'm done each morning. The Baratza left a halo of staticy grinds. And was noticeably louder. I have knocked off one star from the rating just because of having to weigh out each dose individually. If I were switching blends constantly that would be an advantage, but I generally roast my own beans in 1 pound batches so a hopper grinder would have been more convenient.

High quality espresso grinder.

The Eureka Mignon Zero is a very mice grinder for us. We like how quiet the grinder is and its ease of use. We are new to espresso and pulling shots, pairing the eureka with a bambino plus. Our shots are not perfect and we have not mastered adjusting the grind, preparing and pulling the perfect shot with different beans, it is challenging. I do feel the Eureka Mignon Zero is a high quality grinder that will last for many years and help us perfect this process that has many parts and pieces that impact the quality of the espresso shot.

Not for me

Got this grinder for espresso but unfortunately it was not grinding fine for my espresso. Tried to align the burrs but it still does not do the job. It's a nice grinder aesthetically and it sounds quiet compared to other grinders of the same price range.

A great grinder

This is a great grinder: easy to adjust the grind setting; the coffee comes out "fluffy" (I don't need a WDT tool) and the machine operates quietly. As I am the only one in my household that drinks espresso the Mignon Zero is perfect for me. I can imagine that, were the circumstances different, I might not like the machine as much.

Great Set of Features for the Price

I got this strictly for espresso use to pair with my Silvia Pro X. This seemed like the perfect grinder for me at the price/feature point, and I had never had a single dose grinder. After about a month, I still can't decide if I prefer dosing into the cup or into the portafilter. Both work, but depends on your personal preference and workflow.Pros-Very quiet-Consistent grinding-Easy to dial in, even when changing beans.-Fairly low retention (I hover around .5 g)-Built like a tank and has a small footprint.Cons-Very flimsy fork can be annoying. It doesn't affect usability, but it's still frustrating on such an otherwise solid machine-Bellows can be very messy when you try to get out the last bit of coffee. I don't recommend aggressively pushing without first emptying the dosing cup.Overall-I am generally happy with this. I haven't decided if I prefer a single dose grinder or not, but this should last me several years before I decide on my next upgrade.

Great value and features at this price point

This is the first grinder I have used for espresso. I love it because it is super quiet and well built. Plus it comes with a complete set of "extras" so no additional purchases are needed : dosing cup, bellows, etc. I really like the single dose preparation method it supports so well.
