Coffee Grinders With Built-In Timers

FAQs
A built-in timer controls how long the grinder runs. You select a grinding duration, start the grinder, and it stops automatically when that time ends. Depending on the model, you may set the duration with a dial, buttons, or a digital display.
Choose your grind setting first, then select a starting duration using the grinder’s controls. Grind and weigh the coffee, then adjust the time up or down to reach your intended dose. Follow your grinder’s manual to save the setting if programmable presets are available.
Timed grinding stops after a selected number of seconds, while weight-based grinding uses a scale to stop at a selected weight. A timed grinder does not measure the coffee it dispenses. Bean choice and grind setting can change how much coffee is ground during the same interval.
Some timed coffee grinders also include a manual or pulse mode. These controls let you grind outside the saved timer setting, often by holding a button or pressing a portafilter against an activation switch. Check the model’s controls and manual for available modes.
Some models store multiple timed presets, while others offer a single timer setting. Multiple presets let you save different grinding durations for frequently used doses. These presets generally store time rather than grind fineness, so you will still need to adjust the grind setting separately when switching brew methods.
