A dream come true, the Baratza Encore ESP is the entry level all-purpose grinder home baristas have always wanted. Ever capable of grinding great coffee for pour over or other manual brew methods, the Encore lacked the micro-adjustability needed for espresso. So what makes the Encore ESP capable of espresso? Baratza's engineers reinvented their micro and macro adjustment mechanism, adapting and simplifying it in the process. The first 20 settings for the Encore ESP make micro adjustments suitable for dialing in espresso while the last 20 settings make larger macro steps to cover the rest of the grind size range. The result is an intuitive adjustment mechanism that makes swapping between different brew methods reliably a breeze. Baratza even included their M2 conical burr for maximum flavor greatness. Use the new included dosing cup to catch the ground coffee and transfer to your portafilter for espresso making and swap to the classic catch bin for your other brew methods. The Baratza Encore ESP is a great choice for beginner home coffee baristas or even more advanced users looking for compact all-purpose grinder.

I like the fact that it does both espresso and pour-over grinds. This is my first burr grinder and I look forward to stepping up to the Baratza
Vario W+ in about a year.
Not impressed so far. I’ve used it a handful of times and it stopped working. Would not turn on. Had to take it apart. I eventually found a loose wire.
It also seems to retain a lot of grounds. 18g in, 15.3g out.
I’m very happy with the Baratza Encore ESP. It was easy to get going out of the box and within a few cups of espresso, I had the grind setting dialed in. I don’t mind the dosing cup, though it’s not quite as convenient as dispensing directly into the portafilter.
Already have to add a gasket/washer to get an espresso grind. As per Baratza video. Not user friendly for a new product. Espresso grind upon several tries is set at 5.
My Capresso was 8+ years before it stopped grinding fine enough for Espresso. Now I have to wrench a new machine?
Wide range of grind adjustment. Simple operation. Easy to set up. No static after grinding.
The coffee itself is great, and the noise level is also great. However, the on off switch is a janky piece of plastic that is held on by absolutely nothing. It fell off on the first brew, and continues to. Given there's no onboard timer for the device, it means you can just be left with it brewing indefinitely until you unplug it or manage to get plastic reinserted.
It just feels really cheap for what I was expecting. The coffee is great though.

Finally made the jump to lightspeed for my espresso making with the Baratza! Great decision and now I'm trying to dial grind and all the other variables for the best coffee I can make! ??
Espresso grind settings are much better than my previous, less expensive Baratza grinders. The small price difference is worth it. This is my third or fourth Baratza coffee grinder (they wear out; they should sell replacement burrs).
I bought the black version on July 30 at the Kirkland store. This is a superior grinder if you make espresso. Many settings, handy transfer to portafilters. You'll need to assemble parts, but the "getting started" instructions are clear and methodical. I recommend it highly!
Love it! For years I've owned a Baratza coffee grinder and never realized it was not meant for grinding espresso. I could not figure out why my espresso machine would never reach the correct pressure. This new esp machine grinds super fine perfectly. It's brought new life to my espresso machine.
I should have gotten a grinder like this years ago instead of wasting my time with less expensive grinders that don't actually grind properly (and jam and overheat and break etc etc). This thing grinds perfectly and effortlessly. I'm glad I finally went to Seattle Coffee Gear and asked them for a recommendation.
I really like this grinder. I'm surprised how quiet it is. It does a good job grinding and is easy to adjust and use. I use it for coffee but like having the option of espresso grinding too.

Had the original Baratza grinder and decided to upgrade to this version?not disappointed?it is just even better. Does exactly what it is supposed to, over and over and over again.
Easy to use
it gives me a very consistent grind and has improved my brewing without a doubt. Before using it I was worried about the noise from the machine but it really is not very loud, I had used a blade grinder before and that is a lot louder.
Great grinder but vibrates a little with single dosing.
I would like to recommend this grinder. It can grind very fine for espresso with plenty of adjustability. Love the dosing cup for no mess!
It is a great machine! We are able to use the same grind settings as our old baratza which simplified our set up. It is nice a d compact. Love it!
We did so much research before buying this item?and we were thrilled when we found it at a local store vs. buying online. Sadly, the paddlewheel inside broke in less than 30 days and now we're dealing with a warranty repair situation. SeattleCoffeeGear and Breville/Barratza have been great to work through with this, but still a bummer.
Really great machine. Solid. no-nonsense, works well. It is what it is and looks like it will last a lifetime.
Does everything I want in an espresso grinder. Amazingly adjustable and maintainable. Built in the USA and I found the customer service was also exceptional. Not as noisy as advertised, definitely a plus for my coffee artistry.
Have not used it very much or for very long, but it seems to perform as advertized and that is cause for very high marks. My rating will go up if it lasts longer than a couple of years. I recommend this grinder, but cannot speak to its longevity.

I keep on gear #18, for my Capresso Espresso Maker. Keep practicing because it could be 17 and 19 too, so will find my sweet spot soon.Baratza ESP is great burr grinder. Is fast, clean and not too noisy (acceptable).
