What's In The Box

Setup & First Use

The Hario Mini Slim Pro is a slim-profile hand grinder with ceramic conical burrs. Before first use, season the burrs by running 10–15g of whole beans through at a medium setting and discarding the grounds.

Adjust grind size using the adjustment nut at the top of the grinder shaft. Remove the handle, hold the adjustment ring, and rotate clockwise (finer) or counterclockwise (coarser). Retighten the nut at your chosen setting. The slim profile makes the Mini Slim Pro easy to grip during grinding and particularly compact for travel.

Capacity: approximately 24g of whole beans. The catch cup screws to the bottom of the body to collect grounds.

Tutorials & Training

Grind Settings by Method

The Mini Mill Plus's ceramic burrs cover the full range from espresso to French press. Starting points: espresso ~2 clicks fine; AeroPress ~7 clicks; V60 ~10–14 clicks; Kalita Wave ~12–16 clicks; Chemex ~14–18 clicks; French press ~20+ clicks (exact numbers vary by unit — number your own clicks from fully closed as position 0). Adjust based on brew time and taste.

Hand Grinding Technique

Hold the grinder body in one hand and crank the handle with the other. Grinding 20g of medium roast at V60 settings typically takes 45–90 seconds. Maintain a steady pace — inconsistent speed can affect particle uniformity. The Mini Mill Plus is primarily designed for travel and portable brewing scenarios rather than high-volume daily grinding.

Travel Use

The catch cup screws securely to the grinder body for compact storage. The removable handle snaps out for packing. The ceramic burrs are durable and will not rust or oxidize — suitable for frequent travel.

Cleaning & Maintenance

After Each Use

Wipe the interior grinding chamber with a dry brush. Hand-wash the catch cup with warm water. The catch cup is dishwasher safe; the grinder body and burrs are hand-wash only — avoid submerging the grinder body.

Ceramic Burrs

Ceramic burrs rarely need replacement under normal home use — they are rated for long service life. If grind consistency decreases after extended use, disassemble per the instructions and inspect the burrs for chips or damage.

Troubleshooting

Grind Setting Slipping

The adjustment nut under the handle shaft may be loose. Tighten the nut while holding the inner adjustment ring at your target position.

Very Hard to Crank

Setting is too fine. Loosen 2–3 clicks and try again.
