Setup & First Use

Before first use, charge the V60 Drip Scale using the included USB charging cable. Place on a flat, level surface. The scale measures both weight and elapsed time simultaneously — making it purpose-built for pour-over brewing where both metrics matter.

Maximum capacity: 2,000g with 0.1g readability. This covers all common pour-over brewing scenarios up to a full Chemex or 8-cup batch. The scale is not rated for objects heavier than 2,000g.

The scale has a simple two-button interface: power/tare button and timer start/stop button. The display shows weight on one half and timer on the other. The compact flat profile fits under most drippers and servers without adding excessive height to your pour-over setup.

Tutorials & Training

Basic Pour-Over Workflow

Place your dripper and vessel on the scale. Press the power/tare button to zero the weight. Add your ground coffee to the filter. Press the power/tare button again to tare to zero. Press the timer button when you begin your bloom pour. The scale now shows elapsed time and cumulative water weight simultaneously — you can track both your pour ratio and your total brew time without switching modes.

Weight Display

The scale reads in grams and is accurate to 0.1g. For most pour-over recipes, 0.1g precision is more than sufficient. The scale stabilizes quickly during pouring — important for tracking a continuous bloom pour without waiting for the reading to settle.

Timer

The timer starts and stops with the timer button. It can be reset from 0. Common pour-over timing: bloom at 0:00–0:30, first pour at 0:30, second pour at 1:15–1:30, total brew time target 2:30–3:30 for V60 size 02 at 300ml. The Hario scale's combined weight+time display lets you follow these timing points without switching views.

Cleaning & Maintenance

After Each Use

Wipe the scale surface with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water — the scale is not waterproof. Dry thoroughly after any water contact. The scale platform can be wiped with a mild cleaning solution if coffee is spilled.

Troubleshooting

Scale Not Turning On

Charge the battery using the included USB cable. A depleted battery will prevent power-on.

Inconsistent Weight Readings

Ensure the scale is on a perfectly flat, level surface. Do not place in a draft or near vibration sources. Tare before each measurement.
