What's In The Box
Hario V60 Buono pour-over kettle (1.0L), Lid with integrated thermometer.

Setup & First Use

Before first use, rinse the kettle with warm water. The Hario Buono is a stovetop gooseneck kettle compatible with gas and electric stovetops. Check the specific model's bottom for induction compatibility — some Buono models are induction-compatible, others are not.

The 1.0L capacity handles multiple V60, Chemex, or Kalita Wave brews in one fill. The lid includes a built-in thermometer that reads the water temperature through a probe that extends into the water — watch the dial to know when your water is in the ideal brew range (195–205°F / 90–96°C, highlighted on the thermometer scale).

The gooseneck spout is shaped for controlled, slow pouring — the narrow neck produces a thin, directional stream ideal for pour-over brewing. Heat water on medium heat and monitor the thermometer.

Tutorials & Training

Using the Thermometer

Heat the kettle over medium heat with the lid on. Watch the thermometer needle — when it enters the highlighted range (approximately 195–205°F / 90–96°C), remove from heat and rest 20–30 seconds before pouring to stop rolling boils.

Pouring Technique

Tilt the kettle gradually to control flow rate. For a slow, thin stream suitable for pour-over, tilt slowly and keep the pour height low (2–4cm above the coffee bed). Pour in circular motions for even saturation.

Cleaning & Maintenance

After Each Use

Empty the kettle and rinse with warm water. Do not submerge the lid thermometer assembly. Wipe the exterior with a soft damp cloth. Descale monthly or when mineral deposits form inside by soaking with citric acid solution, then rinsing thoroughly.

Troubleshooting

Thermometer Inaccurate

Ensure the kettle is at least half full when reading — the probe needs to be submerged for accurate readings.
