What's In The Box
DeLonghi La Specialista Arte Evo (EC9255M) espresso machine, 54mm stainless steel portafilter, Single-wall filter baskets (1 cup & 2 cup), Dual-wall filter baskets (1 cup & 2 cup), Water filter holder with DeLonghi DLSC002 water filter, Milk jug, Power cord. Note: The Smart Tamping Station is integrated into the machine.

Setup & First Use

Before first use, remove all packaging. Install the water filter: soak the DLSC002 filter for 1 minute, rinse, and seat in the water tank. Fill the tank with cold, fresh water. Wash the portafilter and filter baskets with warm water and mild soap; rinse thoroughly and dry.

The La Specialista Arte Evo has a dual heating system — one for brewing (thermoblock) and one for steam — allowing it to transition between brewing and steaming faster than single-boiler machines. Active Temperature Control lets you adjust brew temperature independently via the front dial.

The integrated Smart Tamping Station grinds coffee directly into the portafilter and automatically tamps it at a consistent pressure. Set the grind size using the dial on the grinder. The sensor grinding system measures the dose by weight for consistency. Insert the portafilter into the grinding cradle and press the grind button — the machine doses and tamps automatically.

Plug in and power on. The machine will run an initial warm-up cycle. Once ready, run a blank shot through the group head to flush and prime the system before brewing.

Tutorials & Training

Smart Tamping Station

Insert the 54mm portafilter into the Smart Tamping Station cradle. Press the grind and tamp button. The machine grinds, doses, and tamps the coffee automatically into the portafilter. This eliminates inconsistency in manual dosing and tamping — every shot starts from the same foundation.

Active Temperature Control

The temperature dial on the front allows you to adjust brew temperature across three levels for different roasts: lower temperature for lighter, more acidic roasts; medium for balanced medium roasts; higher temperature for darker, fuller roasts. Adjust before brewing — allow a brief heat-up cycle for the change to take effect.

Cold Brew / Cold Coffee

The Arte Evo includes a cold brew/cold coffee extraction mode. Cold extraction at lower temperatures reduces acidic flavor compounds, producing a smooth, mellower coffee. Select the cold coffee mode from the brew options and brew over ice for a full-bodied iced coffee.

Manual Steam Wand

The Arte Evo has a manual steam wand for milk texturing. After brewing, allow the machine to switch to steam mode (the dual heater system speeds this transition). Purge the wand, submerge in cold milk, open the steam dial, and texture by stretching near the surface for foam then swirling to heat. Target 140–150°F. Close the dial and wipe the wand immediately.

Single vs. Dual Wall Baskets

Single wall baskets give full control and feedback — they reward correct grind, dose, and tamp. Dual wall baskets are more forgiving and work well while dialing in a new bean or with pre-ground coffee.

Cleaning & Maintenance

After Each Shot

Knock the puck and rinse the portafilter. Wipe the group head gasket. Purge and wipe the steam wand immediately after use.

Weekly — Cleaning Cycle

Run the automated cleaning cycle when prompted by the machine. Use a DeLonghi cleaning tablet in the portafilter with the cleaning disc. Follow the display prompts through the full cycle.

Water Filter

Replace the DLSC002 water filter every 2–3 months or when the machine prompts. Soak the new filter for 1 minute, rinse, and reinstall.

Descaling

Descale when prompted using DeLonghi EcoDecalk. Do not use vinegar. Follow the on-machine descaling procedure completely. Run rinse cycles after descaling before brewing.

Troubleshooting

No Flow / Very Slow Flow

Smart Tamping Station may have over-dosed or the grind may be too fine. Adjust grind coarser by one step. Ensure the portafilter is fully locked into the group head.

Coffee Too Weak / Fast Flow

Adjust grind finer by one step. Check that the sensor dosing is calibrated — if the machine is producing inconsistent doses, run a calibration cycle per the instruction book.

Temperature Issues

Use the Active Temperature Control dial to adjust brew temperature. Allow a warm-up cycle after any temperature adjustment before pulling the next shot.

Steam Wand Weak

Allow the machine to fully transition to steam mode. If the tip is blocked, use the cleaning pin to clear holes. Descaling may be needed if steam pressure has decreased over time.
