LELIT Bianca Espresso Machine

LELIT Bianca Espresso Machine

The old is new with the LELIT Bianca Espresso Machine. A classically styled machine that combines a flow control needle valve with the innovative LELIT Control Center, the Bianca is perfect for the home barista pursuing the purest espresso flavors. Dual boilers for temperature precision and the stability of the thermosiphon brew group are the core of this machine. Those features are already formidable, but the flow control paddle and needle valve let you take extraction to the next level. Whether you're looking for long, slow pre-infusions; lever style espresso shots; or even mimicking a pour over—the LELIT Bianca can handle it. The LELIT Control Center, or LCC, adds repeatable programmable shot parameters that add to your espresso greatness when paired with flow control or on its own. Enable low pressure pre-infusion, set dwell time, and a late extraction pressure reduction to pull repeatable profiled shots using just the brew lever. Latte creation is a breeze thanks to the dedicated steam boiler with the perfect amount of power to create finely textured milk. The LELIT Bianca is truly an endgame espresso machine.

Setup & First Use

Place the Bianca on a large, level, water-resistant surface — it is wider than the Mara X. Fill the large water tank with cold filtered water. Install the water softener filter. Allow 20–25 minutes warmup for dual boiler thermal equilibrium.

The Bianca is LELIT's flagship: a dual-boiler E61 machine with an integrated flow control paddle. The dedicated brew boiler (temperature controlled by the LCC PID) heats espresso water to your precise target. The separate steam boiler maintains steam pressure independently — no mode switching, simultaneous brew and steam are possible at any time.

The flow control paddle and needle valve on the left side allow real-time control of pump pressure and water flow rate during extraction. This is what sets the Bianca apart — you can manipulate pressure from near-zero (lever-style pre-infusion) to full pump pressure and back during a single shot. This enables extraction profiles impossible on pressure-fixed machines.

Tutorials & Training

Flow Control Paddle

The flow control paddle connects to a needle valve that varies water flow into the group. Closed paddle: zero flow (machine pre-fills the group passively). Open paddle: full pump pressure. Intermediate positions: variable pressure between 0 and ~9 bar. During a shot, move the paddle to shape the extraction profile — common profiles include: long low-pressure pre-infusion (paddle near closed), ramp up to full pressure (open paddle), optionally drop pressure toward end of shot.

Dual Boiler Advantage

With dedicated brew and steam boilers, the Bianca pulls shots at a precise, stable PID-controlled temperature while simultaneously producing full steam pressure at the wand. There is no recovery time between steam and espresso — you can steam milk for a cappuccino and immediately pull the next shot without waiting.

LCC Programming

The LCC on the Bianca controls: brew boiler temperature (precise to 1°C), steam boiler pressure, programmable pre-infusion (in addition to manual paddle control), shot timer, and pump pressure. Access via the LCC display on startup per the manual.

Bottomless Portafilter

The included bottomless (naked) portafilter exposes the basket bottom, allowing you to observe extraction directly. A single, centered stream with no channeling is the goal — gaps, splashing, or multiple streams indicate uneven distribution or channeling in the puck. Use the bottomless portafilter diagnostically to refine your dosing and distribution technique.

4-Hole Steam Tip

The included 4-hole steam tip is included alongside the standard tip for producing latte art-quality microfoam. The 4-hole tip produces a more aggressive steam texture suitable for experienced baristas. The standard tip is gentler — recommended for beginners.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

After each session, purge the steam wand briefly and wipe it down. Remove the portafilter, knock out the puck, and rinse the basket under warm water. Wipe the group head area and drip tray.

Weekly Backflushing

Backflush the Bianca's group head using the backflushing (blind) basket and espresso machine cleaner such as Cafiza or Puly Caff. Run 5–6 cycles of 10 seconds on / 10 seconds off. Follow with 5–6 plain water rinse cycles. The 3-way solenoid makes the Bianca easy to backflush cleanly.

Ongoing Maintenance

Use soft, filtered water in the reservoir to minimize mineral buildup. Replace the water softener filter per the recommended schedule in your LELIT user manual. Have a qualified technician inspect internal components annually if you use the machine daily.

Troubleshooting

Shot Channeling

Channeling is visible through the bottomless portafilter as multiple streams, splashing, or blonding early in the shot. Causes: uneven puck distribution, too-fine grind at high pressure, inadequate tamping levelness, or worn basket. Use WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) before tamping to break up clumps.

Flow Control Paddle Leaking

If the paddle area drips, the needle valve O-ring may need replacement. This is a simple maintenance task — contact Seattle Coffee Gear for parts and guidance.

Brew Boiler Temperature Not Stable

Allow a full 20–25 minute warmup. Running a temperature flush (30-second flow through the group to stabilize the E61 group mass) before the first shot reduces temperature variance.
