LELIT Elizabeth Espresso Machine

LELIT Elizabeth Espresso Machine

The LELIT Elizabeth is packed with the features and control that we've come to expect from such an innovative company. With two small boilers, the Elizabeth is designed for those who need a capable machine in a small footprint that can be ready to craft a drink in under ten minutes. LELIT minimized the size of the machine compared to other dual boiler machines by choosing a compact and silent vibratory pump over a traditional rotary pump. The small-but-mighty steam boiler features a tiny 0.6L capacity but runs up to 2 bars of pressure for better performance. The LELIT Control Center, which doubles as a shot timer, allows you to take control of your brewing parameters. Customize settings like brew temperature, manual or timed shot dosing, and pre-infusion length to get perfect shots every time. The LELIT Elizabeth gives all of the performance and control that usually comes with a hefty price tag, and doesn't sacrifice the counter space to do it.

Setup & First Use

Before using the LELIT Elizabeth for the first time, remove all packaging materials and place the machine on a stable, flat, water-resistant surface with adequate space around the rear and sides for ventilation. The Elizabeth operates at 120V 60Hz (US model PL92T-120). Connect the power cord to the machine socket and then to a grounded wall outlet.

Filling the Water Tank

Remove the water tank from the rear of the machine. Fill with fresh, cold water and reinsert securely. Never use mineral water, softened water from a domestic softener, or hot water in the tank.

Installing the Water Softener Filter

Before installing the included water resin filter, immerse it in a jug of water for approximately 3 minutes to eliminate trapped air inside the filter — air in the filter can cause a machine malfunction. Once soaked, insert the filter into the water tank and lock it in place. The filter helps protect the machine's internal components from scale buildup.

First Start-Up

Turn the machine on using the ON/OFF switch on the front. The LCC display will show the LELIT logo and software version, and the three buttons and backlit manometer will illuminate briefly. On first start-up only, the machine will automatically fill the boiler with water — water will flow from the brewing group for approximately one minute and the LELIT logo will flash on the display. Do not interrupt this process. Allow it to complete fully before proceeding.

After the first fill completes, the LCC display will show the coffee boiler temperature rising toward its target. The steam boiler will fill automatically and reach pressure simultaneously. The machine is ready for use when the temperature bar on the display is full and "OK" appears.

The LCC Display and Controls

The LCC (LELIT Control Center) is the Elizabeth's brain — an OLED display that shows brew temperature, steam boiler status, and allows programming of all key parameters. The three front controls are: Button 1 (single dose, left), Button 2 (double dose, right), and Button 4 (hot water). The backlit manometer on the front panel shows extraction pressure in real time — the green zone indicates the optimal extraction range. The steam dispensing knob on the side controls steam flow, and the fixed hot water wand is activated by Button 4.

Tutorials & Training

The Dual Boiler Advantage

The Elizabeth's defining feature is its two completely independent boilers: a 300ml brass coffee boiler dedicated solely to brewing, and a 600ml stainless steel (316L) boiler dedicated to steam and hot water. Because steam pressure and brew temperature are controlled separately, you can steam milk and pull shots simultaneously without either function affecting the other. This thermal independence is the core advantage of a dual boiler machine at home.

Pulling a Shot — Step by Step

  1. Select the appropriate filter basket for your dose — the 1-dose basket for 7–9g, the 2-dose PLUS basket for 14–18g. Insert it into the filterholder.
  2. Dose your ground coffee into the filterholder and distribute evenly. Use the tamper to compress the grounds with firm, even pressure on a level surface.
  3. Insert the filterholder into the brewing group and rotate the handle clockwise until it aligns with the padlock symbol on the group — this locks it into place.
  4. Place your cup(s) under the spout. Press Button 1 for a single dose or Button 2 for a double dose. Extraction begins automatically.
  5. Watch the backlit manometer — extraction pressure should land in the green zone for optimal results. If pressure is too high, grind coarser; if too low, grind finer.
  6. Extraction stops automatically when the programmed time or volume is reached, or press the button again to stop manually.

Reading the Manometer

The pressure gauge on the front of the machine gives you real-time feedback during extraction. The green area indicates optimal extraction pressure. Consistently high pressure (above the green zone) typically means the grind is too fine, the dose is too large, or the tamp is too firm. Consistently low pressure means the grind is too coarse or the dose too low. Use the manometer as your primary dialing-in tool alongside shot timing and taste.

Programming Automatic Shot Time

The Elizabeth can be programmed to stop extraction automatically at a set time for each button independently, allowing repeatable, hands-free shots. To program Button 1: press it 3 times in succession, then when the shot is running, press Button 1 again at the moment you want it to stop — the time is saved. To program Button 2: press it 4 times in succession, then press Button 2 again at the desired stop point. After programming, shots will automatically stop at that time. To return to manual mode, hold the button during extraction until the display confirms the change.

Programming Pre-Infusion

Pre-infusion pre-wets the coffee puck with low-pressure water before the pump builds to full pressure, which can improve extraction evenness and reduce channeling — especially beneficial with lighter roasted, higher-altitude coffees. Pre-infusion time is programmable independently for each button via the LCC menu. When pre-infusion is active and a coffee button is pressed, the grounds are wetted for the programmed time before the pump engages at full pressure. The extended guide covers advanced pre-infusion modes including bloom pre-infusion and steam pre-infusion for more experienced users.

Economy Mode (Steam Boiler Off)

If you are only making black espresso and do not need steam, you can disable the steam boiler to reduce energy consumption. With the machine on and showing "OK," hold Button 2 for more than 3 seconds. The LCC display will show "E" to confirm economy mode is active — the steam boiler heating element is disabled. Hold Button 2 again for more than 3 seconds to re-enable the steam boiler. Economy mode is useful during long sessions between milk drinks or when you want to save energy.

Automatic Purge

The automatic purge is a cooling flush that brings the brew temperature down to optimal extraction temperature after the machine has been idle or after steaming. To activate: press both coffee buttons (Button 1 and Button 2) simultaneously. The pump will run briefly, flushing a small amount of water through the group. This is particularly useful after steaming, when residual heat in the group can cause the first shot to over-extract if not purged first.

Steaming Milk

Before steaming, purge the steam wand briefly by turning the steam knob counter-clockwise with the wand pointed at the drip tray — this expels any condensed water. Fill your milk jug to the base of the spout, no more. Submerge the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk, open the steam knob, and introduce air by keeping the tip near the surface (a hissing sound indicates good air incorporation). Once you have stretched the milk to the desired volume, lower the wand tip below the surface to spin and heat the milk. When the jug reaches the desired temperature, close the steam knob. Wipe the steam wand immediately after each use and purge again briefly to clear any milk residue from inside the tip.

Hot Water

To dispense hot water from the fixed wand, press Button 4. Press Button 4 again to stop. The hot water wand is fixed — position your cup or vessel under it before pressing. Hot water from the fixed wand is drawn from the steam boiler and is at near-boiling temperature — use caution.

Standby Mode

After 30 minutes of inactivity, the Elizabeth enters standby automatically — the display and heating elements are disabled, and Button 1 flashes every 3 seconds. To wake the machine, press Button 1. Wait for the display to confirm "OK" before brewing. Standby can be disabled in the LCC settings if preferred.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

After each session, purge the steam wand briefly and wipe it down. Remove the portafilter, knock out the puck, and rinse the basket under warm water. Wipe the group head area and drip tray.

Weekly Backflushing

Backflush the Elizabeth's group head using the backflushing (blind) basket and espresso machine cleaner such as Cafiza or Puly Caff. Run 5–6 cycles of 10 seconds on / 10 seconds off. Follow with 5–6 plain water rinse cycles. The 3-way solenoid makes the Elizabeth easy to backflush cleanly.

Ongoing Maintenance

Use soft, filtered water in the reservoir to minimize mineral buildup. Replace the water softener filter per the recommended schedule in your LELIT user manual. Have a qualified technician inspect internal components annually if you use the machine daily.

Troubleshooting

No Coffee Dispensing / Machine Not Extracting

Check that the water tank is filled and properly seated. Confirm the machine has reached operating temperature — wait for "OK" on the LCC display before attempting to brew. If the tank is full and the machine shows "OK" but no coffee flows, check that the filterholder is locked into the group correctly (handle aligned with the padlock symbol) and that the filter basket is not clogged. Rinse the filter under running water and retry.

Extraction Pressure Too High / Lever Very Stiff

The manometer is reading above the green zone — the resistance is too great. The grind is too fine, the dose too large, or the tamp too firm. Adjust the grind one step coarser, reduce the dose slightly, or tamp with less pressure. Evaluate after the next shot. If using the 1-dose filter, confirm you are not overfilling it — 7–9g is the recommended range.

Extraction Pressure Too Low / Weak Shots

The manometer is reading below the green zone — insufficient resistance. Grind finer, increase dose within the appropriate range for your basket, or tamp more firmly. Also ensure the group gasket is clean and sealing properly — coffee residue on the gasket can prevent a proper seal and cause pressure to escape around the portafilter.

Shot Running Too Fast

A shot that finishes in under 25 seconds will typically be under-extracted and taste sour or thin. Grind finer in small increments and evaluate after each adjustment. Also confirm your dose is within range and the tamp is level.

Shot Running Too Slow

A shot taking over 35 seconds indicates over-resistance. Grind coarser. If the shot only produces drips, the grind is far too fine or the dose is too large for the basket — back off significantly and rebuild from a coarser starting point.

Steam Wand Not Producing Steam / Weak Steam

Confirm the steam boiler has had enough time to heat to pressure — the LCC display indicates steam boiler status. Check that economy mode is not active (the display will show "E" if it is — hold Button 2 for 3 seconds to re-enable the steam boiler). If the steam tip is blocked with dried milk, soak the tip in a cup of hot water to soften the residue, then clear the holes with a pin or the included steam tip cleaning tool.

Reserve Mode Activated During Extraction

If the water tank runs empty during an active extraction, the machine enters Reserve mode, which allows the extraction in progress to complete using the water remaining in the boiler. Once the shot finishes, immediately refill the tank and allow the machine to refill the boiler before attempting another extraction.

LCC Display Showing an Alarm

The display will show alarm codes for specific faults including missing water in the tank, coffee boiler temperature probe errors, and steam boiler filling alarms. For any alarm that does not resolve after refilling the water tank or restarting the machine, contact Seattle Coffee Gear for warranty service and support.
