The Rocket Espresso Giannino Espresso Grinder lets you pair your favorite espresso machine with a grinder made to match. Built for the rigors of modern espresso, the Giannino features programmable timed dosing, 55mm espresso-focused burrs, stepless grind adjustments, and a sound-insulated case for quiet operation. All this is fit into a compact footprint with style cues taken from Rocket's espresso machine designs. Appartamento-esque feet, black or polished chrome casing, and contrasting rocket trim in black, chrome, or wood on the back panel elevate the Giannino to match Rocket flagship machines.

Setup & First Use

Overview

The Giannino is Rocket Espresso's mid-range home grinder, featuring 55mm patented flat burrs, a touchscreen interface, and Silent System anti-vibration technology — offering a quieter and more refined grinding experience than comparable grinders.

Grind Adjustment

Adjust grind size using the micrometric aluminum knob. Stepless adjustment allows precise incremental changes. For espresso, start at the midpoint of the dial and work finer until your shot time hits 25–30 seconds for a 1:2 ratio.

Touchscreen Dose Setup

The single-color, high-contrast touchscreen provides access to 3 programmable dose presets plus continuous grinding. Navigate to the programming mode, run a dose, and save the time when your target weight is reached.

Anti-Vibration Silent System

The Giannino's silent system technology reduces grinding noise by approximately 20dB compared to non-insulated grinders. The grinder will still produce some noise — this is normal.

Tutorials & Training

55mm Burr Performance

At 1.8–2.3 grams per second, the Giannino grinds a standard 18g double shot in 8–10 seconds. This is slower than the 65mm Fausto Touch but produces excellent grind consistency for home espresso use.

Silent System in Practice

The Giannino's anti-vibration technology is most noticeable in the mornings or shared living situations. The reduced noise doesn't affect grind quality — you can grind confidently without disturbing others.

Stepless Micrometric Precision

The aluminum adjustment knob offers precise micro-adjustments. When dialing in a new coffee, move in small increments and pull a test shot after each change before deciding on further adjustments.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Weekly Burr Cleaning

Brush out the burr chamber and dosing path with the included brush. Use a grinder cleaner product monthly.

Hopper Maintenance

Remove and wash the 300g hopper with warm water and mild soap. Dry completely before reinstalling.

Troubleshooting

Grinder Not Producing Enough Grind

If output seems lower than expected, check that no grounds are blocking the chute. Brush out the dosing area and run a small purge dose.

Touchscreen Preset Weight Drifting

Re-weigh and update the timed preset. As beans change or burrs wear slightly, dose weight can drift. A quick recalibration restores consistency.

Shots Staling Quickly or Off-Flavor

Clean the burrs — rancid oil buildup on burrs affects flavor. Run a grinder cleaning product and purge with a small dose of fresh beans before brewing.
