Carafe Brewing (2–12 cups)
For 2–8 cups: use the cone filter basket insert with a cone paper filter (not included — use a standard #4 cone filter). For 8–12 cups: use the flat bottom mesh basket filter or the brew basket with one of the included flat bottom paper filters. Fill the water tank to the marking corresponding to your desired volume — the machine brews all water in the tank, so fill only what you want to brew. Add ground coffee: approximately 1 level scoop (included) per 150ml (5 oz) of water, or 99g for a full 12-cup (1.8L) carafe. Lock the carafe lid and place the carafe under the drip stop. Rotate the SELECT dial to BREW and press to start.
Brew Modes
BREW: standard batch brew at Gold Cup water temperature (198–204°F). The machine automatically optimizes temperature and contact time. COLD BREW: brews up to 4 cups (600ml) of cold brew concentrate with adjustable steeping time from 30 minutes to 36 hours. CUSTOM: fine-tune bloom volume, bloom time, brew temperature, and flow rate for specific beans. DELAYED AUTO START: programs the machine to begin brewing at a preset time.
Custom Mode — My Brew
Custom mode lets you adjust four parameters. Bloom volume controls how much water is used for the initial bloom (wetting the grounds and allowing CO2 to escape). Bloom time controls how long the machine pauses before continuing the brew. Brew temperature is adjustable. Flow rate (Slow, Medium, Fast) controls how quickly water passes through the grounds. Light, floral, or fruity beans often benefit from a longer bloom and slightly higher temperature; earthy or dark roasts may prefer a faster flow and lower temperature.
Cold Brew
Fill the water tank to the Single Serve & Cold Brew max mark (not the Carafe max line). Add coarsely ground coffee to the brew basket — cold brew requires a coarser grind than hot brewing. Rotate the dial to COLD BREW and press. Set your steeping time (30 minutes to 36 hours). The machine steeps the grounds in cold water and then releases the brew into the carafe. Cold brew concentrate can be diluted 1:1 with cold water or milk before serving.
Filter Selection — Mesh vs. Paper
Paper filters (flat bottom or cone) produce a cleaner, clearer cup with no sediment. The mesh basket filter allows some fine particles through, producing more body and a small amount of sediment — this is normal. Never use both the mesh filter and a paper filter simultaneously.
Measuring Coffee
The included coffee scoop is calibrated for the Luxe Brewer — 1 level scoop per 150ml of water is the baseline ratio. Adjust to taste: more coffee for a bolder brew, less for a lighter brew. Never use espresso-ground coffee — the particle size is too fine for drip brewing and will cause the basket to overflow.
Thermal Carafe
The double-wall stainless steel thermal carafe keeps brewed coffee hot for up to 4 hours without a heating element, preserving flavor. Always ensure the carafe is completely empty before starting a new brew cycle — residual coffee causes overflow. Lock the carafe lid before pouring.
