Frothing Hot Milk
With cold milk filled to between MIN and MAX, disc installed, and jug lid attached, press the center of the START/STOP dial to start. Turn the dial to select your desired temperature — the temperature range runs from COLD STIR through to the hottest setting. The machine will heat and froth the milk to the selected temperature and stop automatically. The Cappuccino disc produces thick froth suitable for cappuccinos; the Latte disc produces smooth, silky steamed milk for lattes and flat whites.
Cold Frothing
Turn the dial to the COLD STIR setting. The disc spins without heating — producing cold froth for iced lattes, cold foam cold brews, or other chilled drinks. Fill with cold milk between MIN and MAX, attach the lid, and press START.
Adding Ingredients
The measuring cap on the jug lid allows you to add syrups, cocoa, or other ingredients once frothing has begun — remove the measuring cap, add ingredients to the cap, and pour in through the opening in the lid while the machine is running. Do not add large pieces of solid ingredients (ice cubes, chocolate chunks, ground nuts) — the machine is designed for liquid or very fine powders.
Which Disc to Use
Cappuccino disc: for drinks requiring a distinct foam layer — cappuccinos, macchiatos. The disc creates a thick, airy foam that holds its shape. Latte disc: for drinks requiring integrated, velvety steamed milk — lattes, flat whites, cortados. The disc produces finer bubbles that integrate with the milk rather than sitting on top.
Milk Types
Whole milk produces the richest, most stable foam. Low-fat and skim milk produce lighter foam with more volume. Barista-formula non-dairy milks (oat, almond, soy) designed specifically for frothing produce good results; standard non-dairy milks vary by brand.
Pouring
Use the Breville Assist Ring-Pull on the jug lid to easily remove the lid after frothing. The jug has a pouring spout for controlled pours. The jug and hot milk may cause scalding — use the handle and pour carefully.
