What's In The Box
Your Eureka Disko Automatic Tamper includes: Disko unit, tamper base, power cord, and user manual. The Disko is an automatic tamping device compatible with 58mm portafilters—not a grinder. It accepts a loaded portafilter, applies consistent automated tamp pressure, and releases.

Setup & First Use

Placement and Compatibility

The Eureka Disko is designed for use with standard 58mm espresso portafilters. Place the Disko on a stable counter surface near your grinder and espresso machine. The Disko requires a standard electrical outlet. Compatible with most 58mm portafilters.

Tamp Pressure Setup

The Disko applies consistent automated tamp pressure at each cycle. Tamp pressure is preset at the factory to a standard espresso tamp level. Consult the user manual for adjustment options specific to your Disko model version.

First Use

Load your ground portafilter normally after grinding and distribution. Place the portafilter into the Disko—the machine detects the portafilter, applies the tamp cycle, and releases. The result is a consistently level, evenly-pressured tamp with no manual technique variation.

Tutorials & Training

Consistent Tamp Workflow

After grinding and distributing your dose, place the portafilter spout-forward into the Disko's portafilter holder. The Disko activates automatically and completes a tamp cycle. Remove the portafilter and lock into your espresso machine's group head as usual.

Why Consistent Tamping Matters

Hand-tamping pressure and angle can vary between baristas and even between shots from the same barista. The Disko eliminates this variable—every tamp is the same depth, same pressure, and perfectly level. This directly reduces shot-to-shot variation caused by tamping inconsistency.

Integration with Your Workflow

Place the Disko between your grinder and espresso machine on the bar. After grinding → distribute (optional, with a WDT tool) → Disko tamp → lock into machine → pull shot. The cycle adds only 2–3 seconds to workflow while substantially improving repeatability.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

Wipe the tamp face with a dry cloth after each session to remove ground coffee residue. Inspect the portafilter holder for accumulated grounds and brush clean. Do not use water on the tamping mechanism.

Portafilter Holder Cleaning

Remove the portafilter holder cup periodically for cleaning—grounds can accumulate in the holder from puck residue. Brush clean and dry before reinstalling.

Troubleshooting

Disko Not Activating When Portafilter Is Inserted

Check that the portafilter is fully seated in the holder and activating the detection sensor. Some portafilters with non-standard handle positions may need to be oriented differently. Consult the user manual for your Disko model's portafilter compatibility guidance.

Tamp Depth Inconsistent

If the tamped puck depth varies between cycles, inspect the tamp head for grounds buildup that may be preventing full travel. Clean the tamp face and test again.
