Eureka Mignon Silenzio 55 Espresso Grinder

Eureka Mignon Silenzio 55 Espresso Grinder

Mornings are tough enough: skip the noise with the Eureka Silenzio 55 Espresso Grinder. The Silenzio 55 takes Eureka's home-size grinder and improves it with a new motor, anti-clumping system—and a custom-designed, sound insulated case. Rubber damping at motor mounts and around exit points like the throat and grind adjust knob reduce resonance for quieter grinding. The Silenzio 55 may be quiet, but it packs in a host of Eureka's famous features like stepless grind adjustment, easy-access burrs, and a bottom burr adjust that preserves your grind setting during disassembly. Finally, early-morning espresso that won't take up space or wake the kids.

What's In The Box
Your Eureka Mignon Silenzio 55 includes: Grinder unit, bean hopper with lid, portafilter fork, cleaning brush, and power cord. Available in a wide range of color options.

Setup & First Use

Initial Setup

Place the Silenzio 55 on a stable surface. Attach the bean hopper and adjust the portafilter fork to your portafilter's height. The Silenzio 55 features Eureka's Sound Isolation System—thick metal case with rubber mounts and gaskets—making it one of the quietest grinders available at around 67–68 dB.

Grind Adjustment

The Silenzio 55 uses a stepless micrometric adjustment knob (front-mounted) controlling the lower burr for near-infinite settings. The 55mm flat hardened steel burrs are an upgrade from earlier 50mm Silenzio models. Adjust clockwise for finer, counter-clockwise for coarser. Make adjustments while the grinder is running.

Timer Knob (Side-Mounted)

The Silenzio 55 includes an analog timer dial on the side of the case ranging from 2.5 to 20 seconds. Set this dial to your approximate grind time once you've dialed in your espresso to enable one-touch timed dosing. The timer knob does not have numbered reference points—you'll need to experiment to find your setting. Note: if you adjust the grind size, you'll likely need to readjust the timer as well.

Tutorials & Training

Using the Analog Timer for Dosing

Set the side timer knob to an approximate dose time (start near the 6–8 second range for an 18g dose with 55mm burrs). Press the portafilter against the front activation switch—the grinder runs for the set duration and stops automatically. Weigh the result and fine-tune the timer knob for more or less output.

Press-to-Grind Manual Mode

For hands-on control, press and hold the activation switch for as long as needed. Release when your target weight is reached. This is useful when dialing in before committing to a timed dose.

Silent Operation Advantage

At ~67dB, the Silenzio 55 is among the quietest espresso grinders available. The sound isolation technology uses insulated motor mounts and a non-resonant thick metal case to absorb vibration—you can easily hold a conversation while it runs.

Eureka's bottom-burr adjust system moves only the lower burr, which means you can disassemble the grinder for cleaning without losing your grind setting. This is a standout feature across the Mignon line.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

Brush the chute and fork area after each session. The sound-insulated case helps contain noise but also keeps the grinder interior insulated—keep the chute clear of accumulated grounds for consistent dosing.

Burr Cleaning

Remove the top burr for cleaning (grind setting is preserved by the bottom burr adjust). Brush clean and reinstall. Run Grindz or equivalent cleaner monthly to clear coffee oils from the 55mm flat burrs.

Troubleshooting

Timer Dose Inconsistent

Analog timer knobs have some mechanical variability. For the most consistent dosing, weigh your output and adjust the timer dial slightly. Bean density changes between coffees will also affect timed dose output—re-verify when switching beans.

Grinder Too Loud After Recent Service

If grinding noise has increased noticeably, check that the rubber anti-vibration mounts and gaskets are properly seated. A loose component can cause the case to resonate. Contact Seattle Coffee Gear if internal components appear displaced.
