What's In The Box
Eureka Mignon Filtro Silent grinder, Hopper with lid, Grounds Cup (80g), Power cable

Setup & First Use

Before using the Eureka Mignon Filtro Silent for the first time, remove all packaging materials and inspect the grinder for any damage. Place the grinder on a flat, stable surface. The Filtro Silent operates at 110/120V, 310W, and should only be used by a responsible adult. Do not use adapters, multi-outlet strips, or extension cables.

Loading the Hopper

Insert the hopper into its seat on top of the grinder and tighten the lock screw on the back of the machine to secure it. Before adding coffee, pull the small tab at the bottom of the hopper to the closed position. Remove the lid, fill the hopper with whole bean coffee (up to 300g), replace the lid, and push it down firmly to ensure beans flow fully into the grinder neck.

First Grind

Plug in the grinder. Place your Handbrew Cup or brew vessel under the spout and press it against the activation button on the side of the grinder body — grinding starts on contact and stops when the vessel is removed. Do not exceed 160g of coffee per activation. Evaluate the result before making any grind adjustments.

Tutorials & Training

Manual On-Demand Operation

Press and hold the side activation switch to grind. Release when your desired dose weight is reached. The Filtro Silent adds Eureka's sound insulation technology to the standard Filtro design, operating at approximately 60 dB for quieter kitchen or office environments.

Grind Settings for Filter Methods

Pour over: medium-fine to medium. Drip coffee: medium. AeroPress: medium. French press: coarse. Cold brew: very coarse. The Filtro Silent's stepless adjust covers the full filter brewing range. Adjust while the grinder is running.

Using the Grounds Catch Bin

The included grounds catch bin attaches below the chute for collecting brewed coffee doses. For pour-over, remove the bin and place your dripper directly below the chute. For drip machines, grind into the bin and transfer to the filter basket.

Eureka's bottom-burr adjust system moves only the lower burr, preserving your grind setting even when you disassemble the grinder for cleaning.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Important Safety Note

Always unplug the grinder before performing any cleaning or maintenance. Do not pull the power cable or the grinder body to unplug — handle the plug directly. Do not use water jets, liquid detergents, or abrasive cleaners on the machine body or grinding system. All cleaning products must be approved for food contact use.

Hopper — Weekly

Remove the hopper from the grinder. Wash the inside with water and neutral soap to remove the oily residue left by coffee beans. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reinstalling. Repeat the same process for the plastic lid. Do not wash either piece in the dishwasher.

Grinding System — As Needed

Remove the lid and open the upper burr holder. Clean the burrs and other internal parts using a brush or a dry cloth. If needed, a vacuum cleaner or jet of compressed air can help clear fine grounds from hard-to-reach areas. Reinstall the upper burr holder and lid, then replace the hopper. For a more thorough cleaning, use grinder cleaning tablets or products approved for food contact use.

Burr Replacement — Every 250 kg of Coffee

The 50mm hardened flat steel burrs should be inspected regularly and replaced approximately every 250 kg of coffee ground. To access the burrs, unplug the grinder, remove the bean container, and unscrew the lid screw and the screws securing the upper burr holder. Clean the burrs with a brush or dry cloth. Troubleshooting

Brew Extracting Too Fast / Weak and Thin

The grind is too coarse. Use the EASY SETTING knob or the main adjustment knob to move toward a finer setting. Make small changes and flush transition grinds before brewing again. Also confirm your dose weight is appropriate — an underweight dose will produce a fast, underdeveloped brew regardless of grind size.

Brew Extracting Too Slowly / Bitter or Astringent

The grind is too fine. Turn the adjustment knob counter-clockwise to coarsen the setting. Flush transition grinds after adjusting before brewing your next cup. If you have recently switched to a lighter roast or different origin coffee, a grind adjustment toward coarser is typically needed.

Grinder Is Jammed

Do not force the adjustment knob if you feel resistance. Switch off and unplug the grinder, then turn the adjustment knob counter-clockwise several positions to open the burr gap before attempting to restart. If the machine does not clear, do not attempt to disassemble it yourself. Contact Seattle Coffee Gear for service.

Grinder Not Activating

The Filtro Silent activates via contact with the front button — the vessel must make firm, direct contact to trigger grinding. Confirm the vessel is pressing the button clearly. Check that the power cable is connected and the outlet is functioning. Also ensure the hopper is properly seated and the bean flow tab is in the open position so beans are entering the grinder.

Grounds Clumping or Not Flowing Cleanly

If clumping has noticeably increased, the burr chamber or outlet spout may need cleaning. Remove the hopper and clean the grinding system with a brush. Oily residue buildup in the chute can contribute to clumping and should be cleared regularly. The ACE System reduces static-related clumping under normal conditions, but cannot compensate for buildup from infrequent cleaning.

Dose Weight Is Inconsistent Between Grinds

In manual mode, dose consistency depends on how consistently you hold the vessel against the activation button. For repeatable results, use a scale and release the vessel when your target weight is reached. Also check that the hopper is clean and beans are flowing freely — oily buildup in the hopper can slow bean feed and cause uneven output.
