65mm Diamond Inside Burrs

The Oro Mignon XL's 65mm Diamond Inside burrs are larger than any other Mignon and spin at 1650 RPM—a direct-drive commercial-grade motor in a compact Mignon footprint. Diamond-coated burr edges stay sharper longer than standard hardened steel. The larger 65mm burrs produce fluffier, more uniform grounds with lower heat buildup per gram than the 55mm Mignon models.

Initial Setup

The Oro XL measures 15 inches tall by 4.7 inches wide—still compact enough for most countertop setups. Attach the hopper and portafilter fork. The rubber-coated adjustable fork accommodates any standard portafilter.

Touchscreen and Dosing

The Oro XL's touchscreen interface provides two programmable timed doses and a continuous manual mode—identical to the Specialita's controls. Program doses by pressing and holding, grinding to target weight, then releasing. The 1650 RPM motor grinds approximately 20g in 6–7 seconds at espresso settings.

Programming Timed Doses

Press and hold Dose 1 or Dose 2 on the touchscreen. Grind until your target dose weight is reached, then release. The Oro XL's higher motor speed makes it slightly faster than the Specialita—adjust your dose time expectations when first setting up.

Dialing In Espresso with 65mm Burrs

The 65mm Diamond Inside burrs produce a fluffier particle distribution than the 55mm Specialita burrs. This can reduce channeling in the puck and often means less distribution work is needed before tamping. Start at a similar grind setting to your 55mm reference and adjust from there.

Burr Longevity

Diamond Inside burrs maintain peak sharpness longer than standard hardened steel. Eureka recommends replacement after approximately 900kg of coffee with Diamond burrs versus 450–600kg for standard steel. The touchscreen's burr tracking feature can be configured to alert you when maintenance is due.

Eureka's bottom-burr adjust system moves only the lower burr, preserving your grind setting even when you disassemble the grinder for cleaning.

Daily Cleaning

Brush the chute and fork area after each session. The diamond-coated burrs benefit from low-residue coffee oils—use Grindz or equivalent cleaning tablets monthly to maintain peak performance.

Burr Life Tracking

The Oro XL's touchscreen can display cumulative grind time and dose count. Set the burr life alert in settings to remind you when to inspect or replace the Diamond Inside burrset at the manufacturer-recommended interval.

Grounds Running Too Hot

The 1650 RPM motor generates slightly more heat than lower-speed Mignons. For back-to-back shots, brief cooling periods between doses help preserve aroma. Single-dosing or allowing 30 seconds between doses is generally sufficient.
